    2. Actually they COULD sound alike--in that Keziah might be referred to as "Kezzie" or even "Cassie" and that could sound like "Kathy" -- or even Cassie could be the nickname for Catherine. So if the parents said her name was "Cassie" the enumerator could have heard "Keziah." Joan In a message dated 5/11/2008 9:47:55 P.M. I'm trying to figure out why the name Keziah is listed with my gggrandparents in that 1850 census when I know their daughter's name was Catherine Anne (same age, etc).? They do not sound alike so the census taker couldn't have misunderstood.? Oh, well...that's the beauty and mystery of family genealogy! Phyllis **************Wondering what's for Dinner Tonight? 3. I had a similar situation in the Cribbs family tree and it turned out that there were twins. In one census year, one of them was away with an uncle and aunt; in the next census year she was back but her twin had died in an epidemic. It gave the appearance that it was the same person but with two different names. 2. You all are the best!? This makes a lot of sense.? It was so puzzling to me that I had baptismal records for Catherine Ann Witman, death records for Catherine Ann Witman and the name listed on that 1850 census that cooresponds to that gal is "Keziah".? I could understand if the name was listed Kitty or Katie, etc. but Keziah???? Thanks so much for all of your help!
