Lechner appears in the Reading Eagle dated Wednesday September 9, 1931 WALLACE L. LECHNER Boyertown, Sept. 4 (Special). -- Wallace L. Lechner retired farmer of Manatawny, died yesterday at his home, aged 81 years, 5 months, and 7 days. He was school director for 20 years and a member of Camp 480, P. O. S. of A., of Manatawny, and the Knights of the Golden Eagle, of Manatawny. Mr. Lechner had been in failing health for the past 3 years, but was bedfast only 10 days. He was a son of the late William and Matilda (Long) Lechner, and is survived by his widow, Fannie (Haas) and the following children: Warren and Frank, Reading; Wilson, of town; Samuel, at home; Hannah, wife of Charles Griesemer, Reading, and Charles, at home. Nineteen grandchildren, seven great-children also remain, as well as one sister, Mrs. Amelia Bowman, of town. Funeral on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 from his home, with further services in Oley Lutheran Church. Interment in adjoining cemetery. ------------------------------------ Notes: The Knights of the Golden Eagle is abbreviated as the KGE, Wallace was a member of the Manatawny Castle 461. P. O. S. of A. is the Patriotic Order Sons of America Oley Lutheran Church is the informal name for Christ Lutheran Church, located in Spangsville, PA. It is located near the Salem United Church of Christ. The nearby Oley Church Cemetery is associated with both churches. Manatawny and Spangsville are in Oley Township, Berks County, PA Wallace L.
