I am looking for info on a Mary Sailor who married Elias Fluke. One informant states she came from Virginia. Sailor and Seylor etc, could be alternate spellings of this name as they are phonetically the same. Mary and Elias ended up in Bedford Co, Pa as several other of my ancestors. This has been a very hard family for me to trace. Mary was born about 1797. Would be happy to hear from you on this family Janice Marguerite Crist Calvin <cristcalvin@verizon.net> wrote: I am seeking information on Catharine SEILER who married George CHRIST in Trinity Tulpehocken Reformed Church, on 15 November 1801. I have been told the church is in Berks co and also in Lebanon co PA. There were Seyler/Seiler families in Tulpehocken, but I have been unable to determine Catharine's parents. I do have a George Christ and wife Catharine witnessing a baptism in Schuylkill co PA. George's brother Simon and wife Elizabeth Braun/Brown were in Schuylkill co at the time. George and Simon were sons of Johan George Christ and Maria Margaretha Kantner. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you for reading this. Thanks for responding. Yes, I have seen the Sailor/Seylor. However Catharine was married as a SEILER. Now, someone clumps that with the Sailor/Seyler's. And they may be right. I haven't worked on this line long enough or deep enough to know. However, I have seen that some are called Germans and some from Switzerland. Not sure of the significance. I have collected some Seiler/Seyler also SEHLER info but none of it connects. The George Christ who went to Northumberland co PA (circumstancial that George is from my line, as other family members were there), has a different wife in the census. One descendant, who also thinks its the right George, thinks Catharine died. So far I haven't turned up anything in Schuylkill co about her death. Christ is difficult there because of a doctor Jacob Christ. I'm not convinced they are unrelated, but have no proof. While visiting there, I went to Hetzel cemetery, and over to the university library. I met a gal who married a SEILER. And she lived by the Brown cemetery (connected to my Christ/Crist). All she knew about the name was there had been some kind of family scandal with the grandfather or gr grandfather. So no one knew much about the line. Since my Christ line came with Weiser to Tulpehocken, I have been working on that theory. And I did find a Seyler/Seiler there. No details as yet. On surface I don't believe I have much to help you. I don't recognize the FLUKE name, so probably haven't run across that particular line. We should keep in touch because I never say never in genealogy!!! Thanks again.
