Betty, It's kind of you to try to help Marge Gray, but as you say all those Siegfrieds were born in Pennsylvania. The "El Siegfried" listed in the census at age 58 is Elizabeth (Faust) Siegfried, the Wife of Abraham Siegfried (age 64). Abraham is a descendant of Johannes Siegfried (no birth date known) of what is now Maxatawny Township, Berks County. Johannes moved from Oley to Maxatawny about 1724 and when he died in December 1747 he willed one-half his land to Son Joseph (1721) and one-half to son John (1723). Joseph (1721) had seven Sons, two of whom, Joseph (1749) and Abraham (1764), moved to Bath, Northampton County about 1792. Abraham (1764) had four Sons, one of whom was Abraham (1786), who married Elizabeth Faust (1792). It is this Abraham (1786) and "El"(1792) that are listed in the 1850 census. Leon F. Do any of these names sound familiar? Also, Pottsville is in Schuylkill County, not Berks. Schuylkill County was erected in 1811 from parts of Berks and Northampton Counties. Pottsville was a municipality of Schuylkill as early possibly as 1840. Betty
