Bruce- LOL! I've never figured out which came first--just know they did that in naming the children. I was once told that German Reformed did this and not Lutherans or the other way around (I forget) but all of mine seem to have done it regardless of religion (except for the Mennonites and COB families who didn't practice infant baptism).
