    3. Dear Berks Researchers: The Ship Sally in 1767 carried one "Jacob Gobell" along with some Tshcudy and Boni family members, all from Switzerland (See Faust Book on 18th c. Swiss Emigration to US for corresponding list of emigrants in 1767 I believe this Jacob Gobell is really Jacob Roppel from the Faust list above leaving Switzerland along with his wife Margreth Tschudy son Jacob Jr. and a sister. Where in PA did ole Jacob go? Did he settle down near the Tshcudy family as one might surmise? Was he in Berks CO? If so, where? I know there were Tshudys there but am new to research in Berks. Are there any tax, cemetery, church, land or other records that someone could check for me for this county? I understand some Tschudy family lived in Phil PA at first, then in REading PA. Some Tschudy family may have lived in Baltimore later, while others migrated to Ohio.. For now I'd like to find Jacob Roppel (Gobell) shortly after his arrival in Phi PA in 1767 - something to document that he made the trip successfully. PLEASE HELP ME FIND DEAR OLD JACOB ROPPEL (GOBELL) I look forward to hearing from you - my PA knowledge is limited - my thirty years of research has concentrated on Jacob's younger brother, Martin Roppel (Ruple), in Charleston, SC who immigrated from Switzerland in 1772, a few years after Jacob (1767) Jack Ruple, Sr. jdroppel@aristototle.net For more info on Jacob Roppel see Orangeburg German Swiss Genealogical Society - First Families - "Ruple".)
