Author: gfeisel Surnames: Delong Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.monroe/1146/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Would someone who is knowledgeable in the formation of Monroe Co. and its towns and townships be willing to help me with the following question? I have a record that states a Frans Delong who married Catherine Dymont apppeared in Northampton Co., PA, perhaps between 1750-1755, definitely by 1761. He lived near John Delong in Smithfield Twp., Northampton Co., PA. John Delong, Sr. enlisted in the military 1777 at Lower Smithfield (township?), Northampton Co., PA. "John appeared in 1782, 1790 and 1797 in the account book of Aaron Depuy, Smithfield storekeeper. His four acres appear in the Smithfield list of taxables for 1786. The 1790 census shows him of Lower Smithfield Township." I'm just trying to confirm that the Smithfield Twp., Northampton Co. and Lower Smithfield Township (presumably also of Northampton Co.) of the mid to late 1700's would now be part of Monroe Co., PA. Thank you for any help you can give me. Karen Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
