Hi, Joan- I checked census records and in 1850 in West Pike Run Township, Washington County, PA I found the following: Elijah WRIGHT, age 38, born VA Sarah WRIGHT, age 32, born PA Elzina WRIGHT, age 13 John WRIGHT, age 11 Abigail WRIGHT, age 9 Seth WRIGHT, age 7 Sarah WRIGHT, age 5 William WRIGHT, age 3 Minerva WRIGHT, age 1 Joseph WRIGHT, age 73, born MD Catharine WRIGHT, age 75, born PA Deborah WRIGHT, age 40, born PA Alford WRIGHT, age 32, born PA Harriet WRIGHT, age 21, born PA ----------------------------- I also find this Elijah WRIGHT on the 1860 Pennsylvania Mortality Schedule for Fayette County. He died in March at age 48. He is listed as a farmer and his cause of death is consumption. ID # MRT 317_78. His "state of birth" is listed as FR (France perhaps?) It would appear to me that "Jackson" WRIGHT is the John WRIGHT above and that he's most likely the son of Elijah and Sarah but that Deborah may be his aunt. Joseph and Catharine could be his grandparents. Anyway...something for you to follow up on. His father dying in Fayette County possibly is the reason Jackson moved there--perhaps he inherited property after his father's death? Joan ---- Is it possible to find out if a Jackson Wright, born February 2, 1838, in Pennsylvania, would be listed? His mother is believed to have been Deborah but only from a reference out of a letter whereby his Daughter said that her dad would call her Debbie because he thought she looked so much like his mother. Jackson Wright and Nancy Thompson were married in Washington County, Pennsylvania September 26, 1857. Is there an actual marriage record that could be copied for documentation purposes for genealog? I have traced him back to West Brownsville, Washington County, Pennsylvania and I also have an Indenture dated April 3, 1869 by Jackson and Nancy Wright of Fayette County, Pennsylvania (Page 324 and 325) and also a land conveyance Deed book 21, pages 40 and 41 February 8, 1868 to Jackson & Nancy Wright. He is supposed to have moved to Iowa in 1873. I have been at a huge "road block" trying to find the parentage of Jackson Wright. There is some suggestion he was orphaned and raised by and worked for a Lewis Lilley. **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance.
