She had run away from home and evidently gave her parents a lot of trouble by staying out most of the night, etc. I found an article in the Reading Eagle about it. She also made the news when she ran away from the home a month later, but was caught and returned. In that article it said her parents said she kept bad company, stayed out late and was incorrigible and disobedient. She was 16 at the time. Both of these articles were on the front page. Her parents evidently had cause for concern because three years later she had a child out of wedlock, never marrying the father that I can find. She married three times, had at least 12 children, and her last husband was something like 28 to her 42. She made the paper again when she accused her second husband of abuse and eventually divorced him. She certainly ! is one of the more colorful characters I've come across. Thirty years ago, I interviewed her son who was the illegitimate child, and he had been raised by his grandparents. As someone else suggested, if you check the Reading Eagle on Google News Archives and search for the home, you should get some information. You'll have to use the Advanced Search though so you can specify Reading Eagle as the source. Hope this helps. -Donna Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
