Though I had not known him to have come to America, the back of the photo indicated that it had been taken in Reading, PA. And, looking at the image of him, and the style of his clothing, and knowing that he was born in 1848, he looks to be in his 30s. His death date is 1921, in Finland, so he did return there to become a farmer. His children were born between 1877 through 1890, with almost no years without a child being born. Guessing that he did what a lot of Finns did: before marrying and settling in, he 'commuted' over to earn enough cash to buy his own farm, possibly working in the mines, though maybe not. Can anyone point me in as direction of good places for me to do research? Have to do it by computer for now, but hope to head for Berks in the near future, as I also have to research KELTNERs (from Germany), in Mosulem Spring, PA, ca 1740s-1770s. Thanks for any leads.
