Daniel White was my great-great-great-grandfather. His wife was Suzanna Zerbe, whose family I can trace back quite a few geneations to Christian Zarvia, who was born in 1578 and died in 1643. The line includes Revolutionary War soldiers John Zerbe and Peter Schweitzer, who served in the same unit and whose children, John Zerbe and Barbara Schweitzer were married. I am searching for other researchers on the Bower Family line below: Conrad Bower/Bauer and wife Catharine Huber/Hoover. General Jacob Bower and his wife Rebecca Wood, whom was the daughter of Joseph Wood and Mary Scull. I have been researching this family for many years and have seen many family trees on this line. Lots of variations. I am having difficulty proving the relationship of General Jacob Bower to one of his children - particularly George Bower (1784-1846) his son, whom is not named as one of his children in Gen. Jacob Bower's will. George Bower was married to Catherine Cameron (1788-1865) and had 11 children. I am hoping that someone on the Bower-Potter family line will have this proof somewhere. Many of the Potter children applied to DAR and SAR - so I am hoping one of their descendents can furnish proof of this mystery of why I can't find any documentation of this relationship. Was George simply overlooked for some reason and not named in this will ? With so many descendents of this family line - surely someone has the information for this missing piece of the puzzle and the reason why? Need this missing link. According to what I can find - the other son Dr. Henry Bower of Meyerstown was the only one left to inherit funds from this will and his children. No mention of any others. I descend from this son George (not mentioned in the will) via his daughter Catherine Bower (1823- 1885) whom married Dr. Cyrus C. Moore. Catherine was a sister of Adeline Coleman (Bower) Potter wife of Thomas Potter. If not someone on the Potter line perhaps one of the other children's descendents will have this proof? How can so many generations make this relationship of George being Jacob's son, apply to DAR and SAR and have no written documented proof? George obviously knew whom his parents were and that he was the son of Gen. Jacob Bower and Rebecca Wood..and told his children and grandchildren. How else can this be explained? Pam
Pam, Was George the eldest son and received his share of the estate before his father's death? Maybe a parcel of land or cash to buy land, etc. Search the land transcations and deeds. In the history of the Lutheran Church in New Hanover, Montgomery County, Pa., (Pennsylvania German Society XX (1909): 32-33) there is a statement concerning the church property acquired by the congregation in 1719. Kilian "Kalie" was among those who attested that John Henry Sprogel "did in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and nineteen freely and voluntarily give and grant the above described piece of land with the appurtenances in the presence of Us and many others then living for the proper use and behoof of a Lutheran Congregation forever."
