Author: bobbydavis100 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.berks/10528/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am researching my 2nd great grandfather, James Spiece. He was (according to oral family history) born to a miss Elizabeth Stitzer. She married widow Gideon Reider of Berks Co. Researching Elizabeth Stitzer's family has been difficult. I believe her mother was named Elizabeth (info from the 1850 census) and had siblings named; Daniel (who married Annetta) Augustus (who married Catharina) and Ephraim (who married Lovina) Stitzer. My James Spiece (sometimes spelled Spies, Speace, Etc.) was living in Indiana by 1870 and lived there until his death in 1930. If anyone could add some info to this family, it's be greatly appreciated. Thank you Bobby Davis Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I do a lot of searching for obits and this makes it quick to get to the right dates. Also I noticed that obits are located in the same area of the paper in different time frames, most of the time Before 1900 page 1. 1920-1931 page 2 1933-1960 about the 4th page from the back after 1960 something there is an index on the front page. These locations are not true for every edition. 3. Hi, Did you try the PA Dept. of Health Death Indices http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt?open=514&objID=1085804&mode=2 . I have found death dates there. Looked it up Sallie B Bossler died Nov 21 in Maidencreek Twp. I find the index helpful. Have located several death dates of relatives with this. You do not need to get the death certificates.
