Hi Nancy, You are doing an absolutely FABULOUS job! Berks County could not have gotten a better web administrator. Thanks for all of your hard work. I was excited to see that you added the 1767 Tax List for Maiden Creek; however, I do not see it on the website... or any of the others you updated. Does it have to compile overnight or something? Thanks, Jeff Heckman Penfield, NY ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nancy J. Hi Sue, I was interested in your response as I also have some Kramer/Kremer ancestors in Berks Cty jin the 1700s. My ancestor is Maria Sophia Kremer, who had brothers Godfried, George, and Frederick. Father was Johanne Sebalt Kremer and mother MAY have been Margaretha. All arrived in 1732. Do any of these ring any bells? If so, I would like to trade info with you. Happy Easter. This item from the Lehigh County History is wrong, however, since it is in conflict with data from Mertz Church records of the period. I don't think you will find any contemporary records supporting the birth of GEORGE HENRY MERTZ to PETER MERTZ and a MISS SHERIDAN. Here's the faulty paragraph: lehigh co. history mertz family peter mertz emigrated from alsace, germany, in 1730, and was married to a miss sherdian, who had relatives living in berks co. their son george henry mertz was born sept. 1. 1755, he died july 23, 1827, he married eva good, they had a son. gen. henry mertz. he was born july 21, 1782. Geri, According to records of Mertz Church in Rockland Township, Berks County,PA, GEORG HEINRICH MERTZ was born 5 Sep 1755, baptized 12 September, 1755 with sponsors Georg Merkle and Christina, wife. He was the son of JOHANN HEINRICH MERTZ and wf ANNA MARIA ROSSMAN. Hi Diana: Hope your Easter is filled with bright pastel colors. Have a very Happy Easter. I see that you have been getting a lot of requests for the look up. There is no hurry for mine. you know I have been searching for ever. But if you could, I know my Jeremiah and Ellen (Fuchs) Grant went to Union Co.@ 1835 and had children: Mary, Susan, Sarah, Clarence, William. And as always I am searching for John and Maria or Anna Maria Leib married in the 1790's. And had Jacob who married Lydia Knabb from Exeter and buried in Swartzwald cemetery( Still can't find where they were married or when Jacob died.) Maria Grant who married Jacob Mock( can't find where or when they were married) Maria possibly had a son by a John Rothermel but haven't been able to find that either only a note from grandpa Grant. So any finding of any of these people would be wonderful. But you already know that! Hope all is well with you and your girls. The rest is correct: Georg Heinrich (George Henry) married Eva Good, whose son, (General) Henry Mertz was born 22 June 1782 in Lehigh County. My cousins and I are grateful for all that you have turned up for us and the 5,650 Americans with the last name Mertz. Patty Mertz in Nashville ************** Create a Home Theater Like the Pros.
