I am looking to confirm, in writing, Nathan as a son of Benjamin & Benjamin as a son of Phillip. Phillip's parents would be a frosting on the cake. I am also looking for info on Sara Batz -- Ultimately, I am interested in joining a local chapter of the DAR & they need the documentation to verify I am related to Phillip thru Nathan / Benjamin. I understand there is an Elizabeth Koch somewhere in the mix -- for personal rasons, I would like to gather some more info on that part of the clan. I found this odd source of information on the Detrick family. I don't know if it will help anyone. http://www.detrick.army.mil/cutting_edge/chapter02.cfm *Frederick Louis Detrick* was born in Frederick, a descendant of Philip Dietrich, the first known member of the family in the county. Philip Dietrich was born March 30, 1776, parents unknown. He died January 15, 1851 and originally was buried in the church yard behind Evangelical Lutheran Church, across from Winchester Hall, Church St., Frederick. In 1906, his remains along with those of his wife, Catherine (born April 8, 1781; died May 1, 1851), were reburied at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Lot 160-C. Philip's son, John Henry Detrick (born January 25, 1806 in Frederick) married on October 8, 1825, Elizabeth Cronise (born February 23, 1807, in Frederick), daughter of John Jacob Cronise and Catherine Funderburg of Catoctin Furnace. Jacob and Catherine Cronise are buried in Pleasant Hill German Baptist Cemetery, Monrovia. John and Elizabeth's son, Louis Frederick Detrick, was born in 1831 in Frederick, the third generation in the county. He married Kate Umstead (born in 1839 in Green Tree, Montgomery County, Maryland; died July 8, 1898, in Baltimore), daughter of John and Ann (Brower) Umstead. John made his fortune manufacturing fertilizer and was based in Baltimore. John Umstead Detrick, the fourth generation, was born circa 1864, probably in Baltimore, died 1916. He and his wife Eliza Lillie Downey (born in New Market, daughter of William Downey) were married January 19, 1888 and had a son, Frederick Louis Detrick. Frederick was married to Marian Amelia Douglas, born 1897 in Philadelphia, died December 10, 1984 in Baltimore. She was a legal clerk for the judge of the circuit court of Baltim

I decided to go back and retrace my steps and hope maybe someone can be of help to me. In 1790 census there is a Philip Klein in Rockland and one in Tulpehocken. In 1800, there is a Philip Klein in Tulpehocken and one in Windsor. In 1810 there is a Philip Klein in Windsor and a Benjamin Kline in Rockland. In 1820 there is a Philip Klein in Tulpehocken and one in Windsor. There is also a Widow Kline (any idea of her name?) in Tulpehocken. In 1830 there is a Philip Klein in Tulpehocken, and one in Upper Tulpehocken. In 1840 there is a Philip Kline, Sarah Kline,Solomon, Samiel, John, David, George in Windsor and David, Jacob, Joel, John in Rockland. I have some extensive records for the family but what I would like to know is - does anyone know if there is a connection between the Klein/Klines in Tulpehocken, Windsor and Rockland. I ask this because I believe our Philip is the one baptized 1816 in Rockland, son of Benjamin & Sarah, grandson of Philip & Elisabeth. I also believe our Philip is in the one in 1840 census living next door to Sarah, (his mother) wife/widow/? of Benjamin b. 1/21/1791. I cannot seem to find a Benjamin Klein/Kline in these areas other than in 1810 in Rockland. There are Benjamin Kline's in Richmond, Upper Bern, Maxatawny, Bethel, in 1820 and Bethel, Upper Bern, Richmond, Ruscombmanor in 1830. Since Benjamin and Sarah had other children to year abt. 1831, where are they in the 1820 and 1830 censuses? I am also curious why our Philip (1816) seems to be the only child of Benjamin and Sarah that went on to Philadelphia. Thank you. Elaine

The gold mine is a paper that lists all his children and their birthdates. Here's what I found out: Conrad left a widow, Esther, and there are 11 children listed. The paper is in German and the writing is extremely difficult to decifer. The children were born between 1741 & 1760. Here's what I've figured out so far: child 1, b. 27 Jun? 1741; Abraham, b. 14 Mar 1742; Jacob, b. 28 Mar 1744 (my line); child 4, b. 8 Jun 1745; child 5, b. 2 Jan? 1747; Moses?, b. 16 Nov 1749; child 7, b. 1751; James b. 24 Jul 1753; Sofia, b. 27 ? 1755; Catharina, b. 30 Sep? 1756 and Elizabeth b. 2 Jun 1760. There is another Conrad in the same area who died in 1762. Based on some of the posts I've seen, I can't help wondering if smoe people are getting these two Conrad's mixed together. The only child I can give you any further information on is Jacob, who married Catharine Kamb/Kamp, daughter! of David. The following children were baptised at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reading: Abraham, 1768 Elizabeth 1774. Georg David was baptised at Zion Lutheran Church (AKA Bethel Church in Greenwich Township, Berks Co, 1776. Another son, Johannes (John) was baptised at Zion (Moselem) Lutheran Church, Richmond Township, Berks Co. in 1790. About 1796 Jacob Frey/Fry and it appears that many of his grown children moved with their families to Union County where they met and became followers of Jacob Albright. The family then became involved in the Evangelical Association, producing several ministers in that tradition. Eventually, my direct line ended up in Lancaster County by the 1850's, settling in the Mount Joy area. I hope this helps. If you find any information on my Conrad, please let me know! I have been working on separating out all the early Fry/Freys in an effort to find the parents of my Catherine Frey who married Johannes Hage in 1781. She was born 10 Aug 1760 according to her grave stone and they were married in Cocalico (Berks)Lancaster Co. The record states she was the daughter of the "late" John Frey. I have not been able to locate her birth or baptism records but believe she may be the Catherine Frey in Muddy Creek Church record as a communicant in 1777 aged 17. The Frey's ended up in York Co after the break off from Lancaster Co. Here is where the sons of Tobias & Anna Maria (Peters)Frey founded Freysville. Johan Conrad Frey who married Catherine Rupp, Gottfried who married Maria Margaret Linn, Martin married Magdalena Wilheit. Keith.... The names you have on your list are from the Berks County Historical Society. They have put an index of names in the church books, and pastors' collections on their website. The dates are the period covered in each book. Some church books are more than one volume, and will show the vol number in that column, and the page number it is on. The books are catalogued and thus the number K41 or CR-C236 refer to the cat. number of the church books on the shelf at the Hist Soc., for ease of finding if you are researching in their library. For example: Susanna Barlett appears on page 311 in vol 1 of St John's church book, K41, which covers 1730-1916. Here is the link for the Berks Co HS library and query for names in the church books they have: http://www.berkshistory.org/library/churches.html If you click on the name, a form will appear on the screen, to complete your name and address to request a copy of the page for their fee of $5. There is a phone number and email address below the form, which you can try, to get the exact name of the book, and see if it can be found in Fort Wayne library. I have recently found the many of the records for Berks county are in the Fort Wayne Allen County Indiana library. Now my problem is to understand what I have.
