Shirley, Ok thank you, I found the information on the web, so don't how true it was, one person I guess was there in 2003 and stated Jacob had a tomahawk on his stone, to bad they didn't take photos...:( jamie -----Original Message----- From: Shirley Brown <nbrown200@comcast.net> To: paberks@rootsweb.com Sent: Sun, 20 Apr 2008 11:50 am Subject: Re: [PABERKS] Can anyone get a couple of tombstone photos for me? I will be glad to take photos of your Jacob Liebengut stone. I helped to record The Christ Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Stouchsburg and do not recall a tomahawk on the stone. Neither do I have record of a stone for wife Margaret. There is a Levengood cemetery near Mt. Aetna where the massacre took place. I will look up the information later on. Will be out of town for a few days. Do you know of other cemeteries around Tulpehocken and Mill Creek area that I could try to find Reitenauer/Ridenour/Rightnower burials in? George Reitenauer and wife Catherine had a daughter baptised at Millbach in December of 1776. Andrew Strickler Jr and wife Catherine (Graf) were sponsors. Andrew and George served together and they were in the Heidelberg twp. Lancaster County, Pa tax records in the mid 1770's. George's eldest son Benjamin was born abt 1764 in Tulpehocken. George and his first wife Christina came to America in 1764, she is probably Benjamin's mother, but I have not been able to locate the marriage records online for George and Catherine in Berks County, Pa or Lancaster. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shirley Brown" <nbrown200@comcast.net> To: <paberks@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 20, 2008 11:54 AM Subject: Re: [PABERKS] Can anyone get a couple of tombstone photos for me? >I have a record of the burials at Christ Evengelical Lutheran Cemetery in > Stouchsburg, PA. The cemetery nearest to the junction of the Tulpehocken and the Mill Creek is the Reed Cemetery just downstream from that junction. The earliest burials were there, near where the original Reed's Church was located. Actually the confusion came when the registrar in 1788 transcribed the will of JOHN HENRY MERTZ into Will Book # 2 at Northampton County. He skipped over two of the heirs (Catharine Roerig, widow; and Rosina, intermarried to Jacob Seip; then he omitted "Eve" before "Catharina intermarried to Conrad Repp.") The error got perpetuated when the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Family History Library filmed Will Book # 2, pages 27-28 on which John Henry Mertz's 1786 will was incorrectly transcribed. I believe that microfilm number is # 946457. Having recently received a copy of the 1786 will from the Register of Wills in Northampton County, I am going to post my transcription of the "estate section" of the will on the PABERKS website. Shirley: Is there a possibility of transmitting your burial listing of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery to the Berks Co. Historical Society? They currently do not have those listings in their database. Others could then search as well. Are there records available for this cemetery? I am trying to find the possible burials of Christina Reitenauer, between 1764-1775 Catherine Reitenauer, between 1776 - 1779 and an infant named Johan George 1779. ----- Original Message ----- From: <senorasimcox@aol.com> To: <PABERKS@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, April 19, 2008 8:51 PM Subject: [PABERKS] Can anyone get a couple of tombstone photos for me? > Hello, > > I am new to the list and have been researching Jacob Liebengut and wife > Margaret Sands. She is supposed to be in a nursing home, I guess. I can't really recall all that her sister told me. All I know is that her sister told me she didn't know any longer if Dorothy was alive or dead. I will try your suggestions. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Last address I can find for her is 605 Raymond St, READING, PA 19605. I don't know if that was her last home or is a private nursing home or what. Property records show that address as belonging to Marcos Frias who appears to have bought it in 2006, tel. 610 939 1432. She won't appear on the SSDI if no one applied for her death benefit. I checked Berks Register of Wills, but please double check me at http://www.co.berks.pa.us/rwills/site/default.asp You might call the cornorer's office which will have her death only if she's actually dead, and if her death was unexpected and investigated. You could also try Vital Records in New Castle PA to see if they have a death cert for her. Since 1999, no one in her family can recall the place where she was living? If she's 92 and in a nursing home, her ability to let them "hear from her" could be hampered by age or access. Maybe calls should be made to local nursing homes as well. This is sad, and I hope she's found alive, and efforts are made to stay in touch. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hello, I was wondering if someone might be able to go to this cemetery and get a couple of photos for me. I am needing Jacob Liebengut died April 1758, his stone should have an etching of a tomahawk on it because him and his family had been scalped by indians on that date, sorry don't know the day they died, also of his wife Margaret or Margaretha Sands-Liebengut she died the same date. The cemetery is Christ Evangical (spelling) Lutheran Church Cemetery located in Strousberg? I would gladly pay for your time, and sending via email is fine with me. If you happen to come along any other Liebengut's I would gladly pay for them as well in the same cemetery that is. jamie

I can't verify any of the entires. Dorothy was born around 1915 according to Census records. So that rules out most of the entires. And the remaining ones seem to not be in the right place. I am hoping someone can help me find her, since I can't verify anything using the SSDI. I should have mentioned that in my inquiry. Beecher that was last known to be living in a nursing home or other such place in 1999 in Reading, PA. Her maiden name was Chubb and she married a Luther Beecher who I believe died in 1984. I am looking to find out if she is still alive because her family hasn't heard from her in a few years. I am a distant cousin of hers and I haven't been able to find out anything on my own so far. So I am turning to the people here in the hopes that someone can discover her whereabouts if she is still alive or confirm for sure that she is dead.
