    1. [PABERKS] SCHEETZ Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of the Wolfgang & Anna H. SCHEETZ Family which was taken at the Strunk Studio in Reading, Pennsylvania. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with Wolfgang and Anna appearing to be in their 40's and their 9 children, names Katherine; Bertha; Charles; Frank; Emily; Anna; Hedwig; Mary; and John; ranging from infant to early teens at the time. Based on limited research I was able to locate the family in the following census records: 1910 census of Reading, PA: Wolfgang SCHEETZ, age 49, married 21 years, born Germany, parents born Germany, to USA 1888, a Brewery Laborer Anna SCHEETZ, wife, age 42, married 21 years, 9 children/9 living, born Germany, parents born Germany, to USA 1888 Annie R. SCHEETZ, dau, age 21, born PA, a Hoisery Mill Worker Emily S. SCHEETZ, dau, age 17, born PA, a Glove Factory Packer Hettie E. SCHEETZ, dau, age 14, born PA, a Hoisery Mill Worker Carl W. SCHEETZ, son, age 13, born PA Bertha C. SCHEETZ, dau, age 11, born Germany, to USA 1902 Frank L. SCHEETZ, son, age 9, born Germany, to USA 1902 Catherine E. SCHEETZ, dau, age 7, born PA Joseph H. SCHEETZ, son, age 5, born PA Hellen C. SCHEETZ, dau, age 3, born PA I am hoping to locate someone from this SCHEETZ Family so that this wonderful old treasure can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

On that tree I see John Silas Engle as their son, born July 12 in 1763 in Sussex, NJ. Died Aug. 12, 1847 (a very old man!) in Conyngham, PA. His daughter Jane Engle, born about 1782 in PA; died Nov. 08, 1858 -- no location known. She married Samuel Smith (no wedding date available), born 1785 in NJ, died 1864 in Columbia County, PA. 1. [PABERKS] Lucas/Lannert and Lutz/Lucas marriages
    2. Karen Moon
    3. I copied these marriages a couple years ago from books at St Johns Church at Stouchsburg, PA. Now I am wondering who the LUCAS people belong to. Does anyone have these people in their tree and maybe did further research from Lutz and Lannert side ? Andrew Lannert married Catherine Lucas (widower) 3-7-1816. (does widower mean him---she would be widow ??) Samuel Lucas married Sarah Lutz 8-18-1849 Thank You Karen

    3. Responding to Ed Wevodau & Ray Friess: Perhaps information I have on early Wicklein residents of Robeson Twp., Berks Co. will prove useful for you. The eldest sister of my 4th great-grandmother, Margaret Spahr (1766-1841), was named Catherine A. Spahr (b. 10/17/1754). Her marriage in 1774 was to Jacob Wicklein (5/25/1750-12/26/1821) and they made their home in Robeson Twp. Two trusted Wicklein researchers have shared information on this Jacob Wicklein, quoted below from the file I maintain on him: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "The following was received by E-mail 11-12 July 2001....: Jacob Wicklein's immigrant parents were Johann Georg Wicklein and Anna Christina Reitenauer. Johann Georg was born in 1717 in Pfaltz [Palatinate], Wuertemburg, Germany. He arrived in USA on 19 Oct 1736 on the Brigantine "John." He went first to New Hanover, Montgomery Co., PA, and then to Robeson Twp., Berks Co., PA. His wife, Anna Christina, was born 1721 in Puberg, Alsace-Lorraine (also given as Puberg, Lutzelstein, Bas-Rhin, France). She came to USA at the age of 17 on the Ship "Robert & Alice," probably with her parents. Her father was Hans Balthasar Reitenauer (1696-1749) and her mother was Susanna Windstein. They moved to West Virginia where they died and are buried." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In 1784 Jacob and Catherine (Spahr) Wicklein served as sponsors for the baptism of Margaret (Spahr) Zulauf's first child, Jacob Zulauf. The Zulaufs were also residents of Robeson Twp. The baptism was performed by the German Reformed pastor, Rev. John Waldschmidt. There may well be records of pastoral acts for your Wickleins in John Waldschmidt's extant journals. The other pastor who served German Reformed congregants in the same general area about the same time was Rev. William Boos. German Reformed archives are preserved by the Evangelical and Reformed Historical Society (ERHS) on the second floor of the Philip Schaff Library at Lancaster Theological Seminary, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Years ago I found and used in the ERHS library the original leather-bound journal of Pr. Boos that he started in March, 1782. The Website for ERHS is at http://www.erhs.info/ . I might be able to put you in touch with one of the Wicklein researchers who shared information with me via E-mail in 2001. If interested, please contact me privately and I'll see what I can do.
