I understand that. Here is my thought on it though. When a person is typing one-handed (which I had to do when my wrist was broken) it only takes one stroke to press the 'caps lock' button, then type the name, and then press that button again. I would think this would be common courtesy for the others on the list. As far as looking for the name you want on an email is that most of us are looking for numerous names and to have type them all in, one at a time, would be more time consuming and irrtating than it would be for someone to just hit the caps button. Sande "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." – T.S. Eliot "To change one's life: 1. Start immediately. 2. Do it flamboyantly. 3. No exceptions." – William James Just use your find feature with the name you want. There are people who only can type one handed. This makes it very difficult to use the capitals. You might be missing quite a bit in your haste and judgment. The original records are available on microfilm from the LDS church. For the early records, check film no. 20350. -----Original Message----- From: paberks-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:paberks-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Bruce Fosnocht Sent: Sunday, August 10, 2008 12:33 AM To: PABERKS@rootsweb.com Subject: [PABERKS] St. John's(Hain's) Church Books Hello, Does anyone know how we might go about having the church take their original church records out of the vault, where they are being kept, because of their delicate condition? I think that the recent effort underway by the LDS church to digitize all the records they can find would provide the perfect opportunity for Hain's Church to take their books out of the vault just this one time, and have the LDS make a digital record. There have been three "History of Hain's Church" books published, and there is a translation copied by William Hinkeavailable from the LDS Library catalog. The Hain's church records are also on Broderbund CD #129(maybe now numbered 166), but it suffers from the same debility that the others suffer. The spelling of the BINKLEY surname in these translations is unbelievably butchered, to the point where I can't separate the Bickee/Bickle/Bickel/Binckee/Binckle/Binkee/Binkel/Binkle/Binkley families one from the other. I'm certain that Binkley is not the only surname so badly mixed up. There are many families throughout the US which had their immigrant ancestors move on from Hain's church in their early generations. I think we would all benefit from being able to view these original handwritten entries, so we could make our own judgement of whether they might be our family members or not. The 1850 Census for Robeson Township, Berks County on the 13th of September (Caleb Jones - Ass't Marshall) records the following: Lines 31 through 36 - Dwelling: 287 - Family: 287 Samuel Shoemaker (33) Occupation: Carpenter Value of Real Estate: $500.00 Susanna (32) Charles (8) William (4) Jacob Shoemaker (66) Elizabeth Seyfert (36) All persons were born in Pennsylvania Unfortunately, the 1850 Census did not record relationships of those living in the same household; but it is a possibility that Elizabeth Seyfert is Susanna's sister. It is not conclusive proof but Jacob is likely Samuel's father. Good luck in your research! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Thank you Geri for posting the data on EDEL, etc. you are most kind to do this..... I have been trying to determine the parentage of my GrGrand, HENRY H. EDEL, born abt. 1829, I have been unable to find his parents in spite of going thru' films at my LDS FHC and on-line and Ancestry and Research by the PHS..... I have a Marriage Mar. 1829 between a MATTHIAS EDEL and ANN DENING at the Phila. First Reformed Church, and found records up until the Church closed in 1829, but no data for my HENRY H.... he is my brick-wall.. I think he is descended from the CHRISTIAN EDEL who died 1769 that you mention, but have not made the connection...... Thank you for your help, sally

Where is Berks Co??? The beauty of the Internet is that almost anything (ok, EVERYTHING!) can be found by a quick search here: http://www.google.com Google has a search engine for a word or a string of words (i.e. Berks Co) or (where is Berks Co). Here is what I found by googling, Where is Berks Co and it only took 0.22 seconds! ::::: Results 1 - 10 of about 1,670,000 for where is berks co. (0.22 seconds) Below are the 1, 6700,000 results! http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&q=where+is+berks+co&btnG=Google+Search Keep in mind that you can filter your results by putting specific phrases in quotes. An example would be "John Smith" as opposed to John Smith (no quotes.) If you put your search terms in quotes, it will find that specific string as opposed to all the results on the Internet for John and all the results for Smith, but not necessarily in that order. In addition, you can search different Google search engines such as images, scholarly works, books, patents, blogs, news, videos, and more here: http://www.google.com/intl/en/options/ I have Google set up to send me daily or weekly alerts when certain words or terms (ex. underwater basketweaving), are added to the Internet. And also, you can download Google Earth and look at your house from a satelite or perhaps your friend's town in China! I found my great-grandparent's farm in Ohio on Google Earth! Here's a link to info on how to successfully search on Google: http://www.google.com/support/bin/static.py?page=searchguides.html&ctx=basics&hl=en Hope this helps! With practice, the amount of info you can find on everything, including genealogy will take a lifetime to surf through! Signed, JH Seeley
