    3. 1. Sometimes we are not searching for just a single name but want to scan a text to see if any of a fairly large cluster of names turns up and gives a clue. In a text without ALL CAPS for names, I find that really hard. 2. Some people have typing difficulties, but others have visual difficulties. 3. (a) I admire anyone who can type reams and reams of material with one hand. (b) I suppose that person could also do a "search-and-replace- all" to convert a name into ALL CAPS, for their own or others' use. (c) Question: What ever happened to setting up "macros" -- where you can tell your computer to insert a unit of text (such as a name in all caps) when you touch just one key or set of keys? I haven't heard of people planning their own macros for maybe 15 years -- sure would be helpful when doing genealogy. I don't know how to do it on my present computer -- anyone got advice? 3. I'm fairly certain that film 20350 has the original records. The description says that it is "microfilm of the original records...." Perhaps someone on the list has looked at this film and could confirm or correct me. The following series (6 microfilms) also contains some of the original records associated with Hain's church: Church records, 1755-1949 [First Reformed] Nancy -----Original Message----- From: paberks-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:paberks-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Bruce Fosnocht Sent: Sunday, August 10, 2008 8:59 AM To: paberks@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PABERKS] St. John's(Hain's) Church Books Nancy, The LDS church has not filmed the "original" Hain's church books. LDS film 0020350 is the transcription made by William Hinke. It is the one with all the spelling variations. It is quite obvious to me that, if a person so skilled as Hinke could read the Binkley and Bickel names so many different ways, the handwriting made it extremely difficult to discern the lower case 'e' and 'l' at the end of the name. Whether there was a 'c' or 'n' or 'nc' preceding the 'k' was also problematic. I would like to have the opportunity to look at the original handwritten records, so that I can make my own interpretation of the problematic entries. 1. [PABERKS] BIXLER Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Wayne BIXLER which was taken at the John D. Strunk Studio in Reading, Pennsylvania. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Wayne appearing to be about 8 years old at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information: Wayne BIXLER was b. 1880 in Brecknock Township, PA to parents Christian B. BIXLER (b. 27 Sept 1847) and Ellen ZIEMER (b. 1 Nov 1859). Wayne was one of their 7 children which included, Evan; Wayne; Josephine; Howard; Jennie; Laura; and Oscar BIXLER. Wayne married Catherine MOUNTZ (b. 1880 in Brecknock Township, PA) on 20 Jan 1900 in Reading, PA and together they had three children including, Esther May; Dora Ellen; and Gladys A. BIXLER all born between 1900 and 1910 in Reading, PA. Census records provide the following information: 1900 census of Robeson Township, PA: (living with who I believe is Katie's parents) John MOUNTZ, age 44, born Nov 1855, married 23 years, born PA, parents born PA Emaline MOUNTZ, wife, age 45, born Dec 1854, married 23 years, 4 children/4 living, born PA, parents born PA Charles P. MOUNTZ, son, age 11, born Dec 1888, born PA, a Laborer John A. MOUNTZ, son, age 8, born Nov 1891, born PA Wayne BIXLER, boarder, age 20, born Feb 1880, married 1 year, born PA, parents born PA, a Farm Laborer Katie E. BIXLER, boarder, age 20, born Mar 1880, married 1 year, no children, born PA, parents born PA 1910 census of Bern Township, PA: Wayne BIXLER, age 30, married 10 years, born PA, parents born PA, a Rolling Mill Laborer Katie E. BIXLER, wife, age 20, married 10 years, 3 children/1 living, born PA, parents born PA Gladys L. BIXLER, dau, age 8 months, born PA 1920 census of Reading, PA: (a boarder in the home of Stella LETCHER) Wayne BIXLER, age 39, boarder, born PA, parents born PA, a Steel Mill Laborer I am hoping to locate someone from Wayne's family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    3. Isn't there a forum for folks who want to teach courtesy to others? Please, this is genealogy isn't it? Help me find my roots and I won't care if you type from the bottom of a well. ...or are these several comments merely a way to "pick at" a good contributor? ron in CA -----Original Message----- From: paberks-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:paberks-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Sande Sent: Sunday, August 10, 2008 7:02 AM To: paberks@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PABERKS] Courtsey & Style I understand that.  Here is my thought on it though.  When a person is typing one-handed (which I had to do when my wrist was broken) it only takes one stroke to press the 'caps lock' button, then type the name, and then press that button again.    I would think this would be common courtesy for the others on the list.  As far as looking for the name you want on an email is that most of us are looking for numerous names and to have type them all in, one at a time, would be more time consuming and irrtating than it would be for someone to just hit the caps button. 2. Bruce Fosnocht
    3. Nancy, The LDS church has not filmed the "original" Hain's church books.
