I have found a Charles Savage in a search of archived Reading Eagles from the 40's and 50's which is a patrolman and sergeant in the West Reading Police. This corresponds to something my mother mentioned once. I think he may have been born in 1886 and may have died in the early 50's since the last article I found of him was in 1952. Unfortunately I haven't found a SS death card to obtain a date. If I had a date I'd search for an obit which may be able to confirm if he was Luther Savage's father. Does anyone know how I can obtain any records of former West Reading Policemen? I think he may have been a founding member of the West Reading Police Cadets and a president of the Berks FOP as well. I am seeking to correspond with someone, possibly a Michael, who may corresponded in March 2007 with one of the folks who started the bergergirls web site - "Strausstown Roots." Can anyone help with information on Johannes (Hans) Schneider (1687-1743), who is buried at the Schneider Family Cemetery in Oley Berks Co., PA? Here is what I found at PA State Arch. The Copied Survey Book D-70-167; Show at the request of Hans Snyder now of âGERMAN TOWNâ that we would Grant him to take up at or near Oley in the Province the quantity of 200 acres of land. A Survey was authorized to Hans Snyder for 200 acres of land in Oley. The Warrant was granted to him on the 26th day of November 1717. Also Berks Co., Deed Book A-4; pp205 dated 7-3-1765 between the brothers John Jacob Schneider of Oley Twp., Blacksmith and Peter Schneider of Exeter Twp., Blacksmith reference to an early patent that was issued on the 6th day of June 1734 (Patent Book A Vol.6 pp334) to John Schneider (alias Hans Snyder) father of the said John Jacob Schneider and Peter Schneider. I've checked Schwarzwald Cemetery and Schneider Cemetery records. Per the records the headstone at Schwarzwald has "Sarah Schneider, d/o Michael and Eva Knabb, died 25 Jan 1849, age 84, 5, 27. Married Daniel Schneider Oct 1783, had 3 sons and 8 daughters." However at Schneider Burial Plot, per written records is a headstone that simply states "Sarah Snyder, died 29 Jan 1849, age 84, 5, 27. " I'm guessing a later ancestor had her re interred at Schwarzwald, figuring the Schneider plot would eventual fall into disrepair and be plowed over. Hello Listers, I am looking for some family info on Jonathan Himmelberger who was from Berks co., Pa. He died in the Battle of Gettysburg July 1, 1863 and served in Co. G 151 regiment which was composed of men from Bernville area. I cannot find his parents ,although with the help of census records I have some possibilities. I am considering his father as perhaps Michael Himmelberger, but it requires further research. Might there be anyone out there researching this family?
