One can visit the archives or hire a researcher to look through the records. I think that anything related to his trial would be in federal records because mail fraud is a federal offense. You might try the National Archives in Philadelphia to see if any records are there for the Western District of Pennsylvania or US Post Office records related to criminal prosecutions. Here is a link: http://www.archives.gov/midatlantic/contact.html See Court Records under Services to the Public. I'm not sure how much research NARA will do on your behalf. Once again, you may have to visit in person or hire a researcher to review records. I'm not sure whether the US Postal Museum (part of the Smithsonian) might have these records. It is under last name: Electis, First Name: Braddes It shows that he mustered in on 04.05.1865 at Allegheny, PA.; Discharged 06.13.1865. This would suggest he was living in Allegheny County or one of the nearby western PA counties at the time of his enrollment. I don't know if his record at NARA would have his place of birth. The ones that I obtained for my ancestors did. If you do make a request for his record (cost $25, use NATF Form 86) you should probably indicate that the first & last names may be reversed in the records. Hannah's parents were Joseph Collins b. 1776 Pa d. 1859 and Margaret Allen b. 1783 d. 1856. Below is part of the obit published in 1884 for Hannah. Does anyone know what paper this was published in? Would you have access to the rest of the article? Also, if anyone knows the parents of John F. BRADDEE, I would certainly appreciate it. Thank you Karen September 6, 1884 from an undetermined WV newspaper-Morgantown Post? (as written with original spelling and punctuation) Death of Mrs. Braddee Famous Mail Robber's Wife Passes Away -A Few Reminiscences of Her Strange Life- Last week Hannah C. Braddee, widow of Dr. John F. Braddee, the famous and infamous Uniontown mail robber of 1840, quietly passed away. Young, beautiful and intelligent when she met the "Indian Doctor," she remained true to him through all his misfortunes and his crimes as well, until his remains were laid away within the penitentiary grounds. After the conviction of her husband she went to Barbour county, this state, continually moving about from place to place. This for over 40 years she led a wandering and lonely life amid the wild mountain fastnesses of West Virginia. Finally on Aug 18th in a wild weird and obscure spot on Cheat river in this county at a place called Garners Hollow, a place almost as inaccessable as the eagle's eyrie, she lay down to die and all her memories both bitter and sweet were blotted out. Her remains were taken to Uniontown and carried past the very house in which Dr. Braddee achieved his wonderful medical fame and also his destruction. Her's was a romantic life, and, the story of her courtship, her singular devotion to her husband and the tale of her 40 years in the wilderness, with their lonely days and never ending nights, would make a fitting theme for a gifted pen. Her maiden name was Miss Collins. In 1829, while young and handsome, she became very ill and was given up by her attending physician. About that time two men came along one of whom gave his name as Dr. Braddee. He declared his ability to restore Miss Collins to health, but demanded in return her hand for his services. After her recovery they became very warmly attached to each other but the father objected to their marriage. Braddee said he would marry her if there were 40 cannons between them. And he did. They moved to Uniontown and he soon had an immediately large practice. He was looked upon as a kind of cure all. He advertised largely and many people from this neighborhood sought the efficacy of his strangely compounded medicines. It is said that the fences around his office were frequently lined with horses for many rods. After amassing a considerable fortune he began to try his originality in another direction. He with others as his subordinates undertook the business of robbing the mail coaches on the Cumberland pike. Mails which were made up at Wheeling during the months of Nov. and Dec. 1840 were ransacked by them. They were tried in May 1841..... 3. St. John's German Lutheran cemetery is located at South 13th Street and South Street (near Cotton) in Reading, PA. The church split from Trinity Lutheran in 1860 to maintain German language services. St. John's cemetery is separated from an adjacent cemetery by a chain link fence. The German cemetery is on the eastern end of the area. St. John's church itself is located at 521 Walnut Street in Reading. 1. [PABERKS] St John's German Lutheran Cemetery
    2. Glenn S. Piper
    3. Can anyone tell me where the St John's German Lutheran Cemetery is located in Reading? I've recently found some relatives that are buried there, and Findagrave.com does not list a location. It simply calls it "Saint Johns Cemetery" Thanks, Glenn
