I know that my great great great grandfather, Frank Kiebach was born in Oct 1854 in PA. His wife is named Amanda Dautrich. According to census records, his parents were born in Pa as well. I did find a George "Koebach" listed in the 1860 census and he has children that would fit Frank's age and one of his siblings, but I do not know for sure if this is his family. I have also seen "Kiebach" listed at "Kubach" and "Kuback", but these are all in later census records. Any one know of other spellings of "Kiebach"? Anyone have any information on the Kiebach family? Thank you for any assistance. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I found a very informative article in the Reading Eagle of January 27, 1927, listing burials in rural cemeteries in Berks County for the year 1926. http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=mqIhAAAAIBAJ&sjid=FpgFAAAAIBAJ&pg=1958,4755398&dq=cemetery&hl=en There are hundreds of names listed. I transcribed the part of the article for the Oley Cemetery, as an example of the information that can be found in this article. The dates are the dates of burial but can provide the information that will lead to the actual obituaries. Looking for proof of the *correct identity* of this Mary, reported as being born in Pike Township, Berks Co Pa in 1832-34. Any help is appreciated. What I have found so far is below: 1. There is a Mary *Derolf*, dau of George *Derolf *on 1850 Census, Pikes Twp, Berks Co, Pa. Birth is given as 1838, which throws off all subsequent Censuses & death/burial/headstone facts. 2. There is also a Mary Dearolf, b 1834, living in home of Bailey family, in Douglas Township, on 1850 Census. Included are several Bailey children, PLUS 3-4 others of different last names, different ages/sexes. See pages 9 & 10 (on ansestry.com site) of 1850 Census, Douglas, Berks Co. Who was this Bailey & why so many unrelated teenagers? 3. I have found a marriage date of 25 Mar, 1856, Monroe, Clarion Pa for Gotlieb Ensle & Mary (Derath) on familysearch.org, the LDS site. (There is NO Derath on any census, so obviously this is a spelling / transcriotion error. Could it have been Dehart, Derolf or something else? Some "researchers" have said her maiden name was Dierolf /Dearolph /Dierloff. These "researchers" further publish that there was an illegitimate child (Josiah (Kna*p*enberger-one P), the father being Josiah Kna*p*enberger, who did NOT raise the child, but went on to marry another woman named Mary & have 6 children. This family of Knapenbergers eventually moved to Iowa or Illinois. See Knappenberger site. http://www.knappenberger.net/4-daniel(clarion).htm#5 I have a problem with these "researchers" claiming Mary, wife of Gotlieb Ensle as the daughter of Adam & Mary "Polly" Dearolf of Clarion Pa. BECAUSE, the 1860 Census has Gotlieb married to a Mary,...AND the "claimed" unwed mother Mary, daughter of Adam & Mary Polly Dearolf is living at home, with her parents, next door to Gotlieb Ensle. That Mary Dearolf/ Dierolf/Dearloff is CLEARLY not the wife of Gotlieb Ensle. 4. Gotlieb & Mary Ensle: 1860 Census (Clarion County, Pa) - Gotlieb & Mary have "Josiah", age 7(b. 1853) and Adam, age 2 (b. 1858). 1870 Census (Clarion County, Pa) - Gotlieb & Mary have 5 children listed: **Jessie, John P 1863-1886 (died McPherson Co, Kansas), Emma Caroline 1865-1945 (my great grandmother, died Kansas), William Jacob 1869-1961, & Ellen C, 1870, 4 mo old. **Josiah is now called Jessie, age 16 & Adam must have died, as he disappears from any further Censuses. 1880 Census (Clarion County, Pa) - Gotlieb & Mary have John P (above), Emma C (above), William Jacob (above), Ellen C (above), + Jennie (b. 1873), Manda Mintie (b. 1875) and Fred Gotlieb (b. 1878). 5. Gotlieb & Mary Ensle + 7 above named children migrate to Saline Kansas, arriving by Mar 1 of 1885. The family is easy to follow thru the next 2-3 generations and I have burial, etc. Any help in determining the true identity of Mary, wife of Gotlieb Ensle, is appreciated!! Thank you, Paula Claiborne 2nd great grandaughter, thru Emma C Ensle Peterson

I would be so grateful if someone with access to the church records could confirm this. Ultimately my goal is to determine whether they were the parents of my great, great grandfather, John F. According to an article in the a 1929 Reading Eagle, the Northwestern Part of Reading was referred to as Rickstown. So with that description, the Sixth ward very well could have been in Rickstown. As for the Second ward, this is the description "So much of said city as shall be included within the line Boundaries of beginning at the westerly bank of the river Schuylkill; thence eastwardly in a line with and by South street to the intersection of said street with Canal street; thence by Canal street to Sixth street; thence by Sixth street to Spruce street; thence by Spruce street to Seventh street; thence by Seventh street to Chestnut street; thence by Chestnut street to the Reading and Perkiomen turnpike; thence by said turnpike to the eastern line of the city boundary; thence along the same running in a southerly direction to the westerly bank of the river Schuylkill, and thence along said westerly bank to the place of beginning, shall be one ward, and shall be called Second ward" This appears to be the Southeastern side of the city. I also found this on Ephraim. Barlet.--In Philadelphia on July 1st of the smallpox, Ephraim Barlet, son of Joseph and Mary Barlet, age 47 years 5 month and 1 day. He was born in Heidelberg township, this county, and left a wife and two children and an aged mother.
