The year of his birth varies according to various documents produced during his life, i.e. children's birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates, military records, etc. According to John's marriage certificate, his parents were William C or J Evans and Catherine Llewelyn or Llelyen. According to various census records and stories passed down to his children, his parents were of Welsh-Irish ancestry and both were born in Wales. Supposedly, John had a least two sisters, they were named Charlotte and Catherine, names he used for his own children. I can trace John after he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1903. I cannot find any proof of John or his family before April 1903. I need HELP in locating birth records, census records, family members, etc. After spending time in the military in California and the Philippines, John left the Army in Hawaii in 1912. *****If you are working with an earlier operating system, i.e. Vista or XP/XP Pro you will have to capture the page with PrintScreen, paste it into a Word document, them crop the entire image down to the article you want.***** OR copy the PrintScreen to an image processing program ( ie the free Irfanview, or many others) add the text to identify the article, crop the article with the identification, and save it to your disk as a JPG image. Variations are; bring each part of the article to the screen, save each part of the article, crop and then reconnect them as a panorama image (Irfanview). At this point you can save the panorama image as a JPG, or print the assembled article to a PDF file. What I like about this method is I don't have a lot of the extra 8X11 page that you get with the word processor method. It is more like those article that you physically cut from the hard copy newspaper. Maureen, The only way to print an article directly from the Reading Eagle archives is to pay their fee to access a printable version, if that option is still available. If you are working with Windows 7.0 you can use the Snipping tool utility in Windows 7.0 to capture, copy and save or past an image of the article. If you are working with an earlier operating system, i.e. Vista or XP/XP Pro you will have to capture the page with PrintScreen, paste it into a Word document, them crop the entire image down to the article you want.
