I have him in Penn Twnshp in Berks Co. in the 1850, 1860, and 1870 censuses. In the 1850 census he is in the home of an ABRAHAM SNYDER (b. 1787 in PA) and Cath(erine) SNYDER (b. 1791) with siblings Jacob SNYDER (b. 1815), Louisa Ann SNYDER (b. 1831), and Elvina SNYDER (b. 1835). The house next on the census has as its head, William SNYDER (b. 1817) who I believe was another son of ABRAHAM. In the 1860 Census Jared (Jerred) lives with his wife Sarah (unknown maiden name) (b. 1830 in PA) and his children: Franklin (b. 1851), Matilda (b. 1852), James (b. 1853), and Geo. (George) (b. 1855), as well as his mother Catharine (b. 1790). I know that my direct ancestor (Franklin) moved to the Greenwich Twnshp in Berks County sometime between 1870 and 1880 and married a Lydia Riegel (Reigel)(daughter of Benneville Riegel). I would really appreciate any help with details of this Snyd! er family's origins and locations prior to 1850. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. In the Administration papers of Thomas Lewis there is a mention of W. Davis (but no relation given). By any chance in the same source where you found Betsey Lewis' marriage to John Fair, can you find Margaret Lewis married to William Davis? This would give me solid direction in tracing my earliest Davis ancestor. Margaret Lewis & William Davis' first child was Ann, born circa 1803. This may give some guidance on their marriage date. I have used tax records to trace William Davis back to Brandywine Twp, Chester Co. In 1802, he was taxed as a freeman (21 but unmarried). In 1803, he was taxed as an inmate and listed as a blacksmith in Brandywine and remained there until Honey Brook (where Thomas Lewis died) in 1809 tax records. May be grasping at straws but worth a shot. Many thanks! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
