I believe, based on what you have stated, that Benjamin Braun (1806) was the son of Johann Braun/Brown born 1769 and married to a Katherine/Catherine. Johann ( the Germans named most of their boys Johann and then the second name was the one they used) was the son, the oldest son but not the oldest child, of Frederick Braun (1739 Germany) and his wife, Louisa. Along with Benjamin Johann and Catherine also had: John, the oldest born 1790, Elizabeth born 1795, Lydia Born 1803 and Anna born 1812. I'm sure there were others lost to us. I had not been able to make the connection of Benjamin to any of the other Browns in the area before, although he married Elizabeth Trace, a daughter of Jacob Trace and the Browns Traces and Fousts intermarried with frequency. My information on Elizabeth's last name is only provided by several different contributors to Ancestry, but in 1850 she and Benjamin were living practically next door to her brothe! r, John B. Trace. With the times and the poor records, you just have to make assumptions. Most of mine have been born out by finding other clues--many of which can be found by researching the Foust Cemetery and the Watson Run cemetery in Crawford County. The LDS church family history library has these records on microfilm. Thank you for your message. Let me know if I can give you any more. I have looked at every Crawford County Gen. Society booklet I can find and at the records of the Foust and Watson Run cemeteries. I have also searched all the data bases and message boards I can find. I guess if it were easy, genealogy wouldn't be as much of a challenge and as much fun as it is. Thanks, Sue. This is as close as I can come. They give their ages fairly consistently in the censuses. Children's names: Seldon, Milton, Ferdinand, William D., Ann L., and Benjamin Franklin, all at home and apparently unmarried in the 1870 census.
