Diana, Thank You for going the extra mile. Now I can proceed with the next chapter of my book and my search for the origin of Michael Kolb (c1755-1828) who married Magdalene Roth the daughter of Anthony Roth of Manchester Twp, York Co, PA. They were married before December 1784 when Anthony wrote his will. The first concrete evidence of Michael is in Rockingham Co, VA where he appears in the 1784 listing of "Heads of Families" and the 1788 "Militia Vouchers" with his three Brother-in-laws, Christian, Anthony and Frederick Roads (Roth). Bob...... It was KOLB. The earliest emigrants with that name, that I know of, settled first and briefly in Germantown and were Henrich and his brothers Jacob, John and Martin KOLB, Mennonites and weavers. They were from Kreisheim:Wolfsheim. They later settled in Skippack area abt 1709, then called Bebber's Township. Henrich died 1730 leaving 3 sons...Peter, David, and Teilman(Deilman) KOLB and several daughters. David is my line. He settled in Bedminster Bucks Co. His daughter Maria m Frederick LANDIS in Bucks Co., and she died in childbirth c1760 having son Henry LANDIS. Henry located with his father and second wife, Elisabeth HOCH, to Chester Co by 1773. This information about the KOLB brothers is on CD 501 by FTM 'Immigrants to Pennsylvania 1600-1800s', which contains 'William Penn and the Dutch Quaker Migration to Pennsylvania', by William I Hull, pub 1935 for Swarthmore College, then republished in 1990, Lib of Congress card number 79-112826. In Appendix C, showing the families, Dutch and German, who settled in Germantown bet 1683-1709 with their known countries of origin, the spelling is KOLB then. (page 408.) Pennsylvania Wills, 1682-1834 KOLB, HENRY. Vanbebber, Co. of Philadelphia. Yeoman. February 20, 1729/30. July 18, 1730. E.134. Wife and Exec: Barbara Kolb. Children: Peter, <>, Teilman, Mary Kasdurp, Dorothy Gotshalk, Anne Swarts, Agnes. Trustees: John Hudwiter, Paul Frecit Junr., Jacob Grader, Robt. Jones. Son David's will is filed under CULP! Pennsylvania Wills, 1682-1834 Page 553. David CULP of Bedminster Twp., yeoman. November 11, 1786. Proved December 31, 1786. Wife Nancy. Son Jacob, Bro. Tielman and Henry Overholt exrs. Sons Jacob, Abraham, and David. Gdson. <>. Son Abraham's wife Mary. Son Henry's dec'd. six children. Wits: Jacob Kulp, Jacob Overholt. (Signed by mark - correct spelling probably Kulp. WSE) David got land in 1761 under KOLB: Bucks County Pennsylvania Deed Records 1684-1763 by John David Davis Pg. 538 12 May 1761, William Allen, of Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania to <>, yeoman, of Bedminster Twp., Bucks County, Pennsylvania £688.15-192 acres....Bedminster Twp.....line of heirs of Francis McHenry, Abraham Black, James Huges, and John Boos. Signed William Allen Wit: Alexander Stuart and Dielman Kolb, who recorded 1761. Son Martin is KULP in the Orphan's Court file: Bucks County Pennsylvania Orphans' Court Records 1685-1852 by Thomas G. Myers #477 10 June 1771 Martin KULP, Bedminster Twp. Widow Mary Children: Magdalen, Mary, Susann, and Anne, under 14. Tilman Kulp appointed guardian. Children Barbara and Elizabeth, over 14, petition for guardians. <> of Bedminster appointed. I think the surname morphed to the other spellings beginning with their will/estate files! Some of them maintained KOLB. This makes research a real challenge!

I can email it to you, but you'll have access for only a limited period of time--maybe a day or so. You will enjoy the chapter on Old-time Batallions. They had very impressive drill teams, especially the one the Bechtolds were on. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Can anyone tell me where to access these records online if available? There is a marriage between Maria Babb and Jacob Hess on 9 Mar 1828 that took place at that church. I am looking for the Babb family. Who could Maria be the daughter of? Are there any Babb historians out there or folks that are familiar with the Christ's Lutheran Church? Best regards, Terri
