I'm really wanting to connect with other Weerheijm/Wehrheim people to find out more about my family name etc. I know it is quite a rare name, even back in Germany with the original spelling. There is a Malcolm F Elliott who died in Reading, and had will/estate file dated 12/17/1952, shown in the Register of Wills online files. You can try to get an OBIT from the newspaper near that date, by writing/emailing the Reading Public Library, attn: Penn Room. They do newspaper lookups for a nominal fee, if you don't live in Reading. (It is possible that he is buried where the others of his family are.) There is also a William SHERMAN who died in Reading on 12/21/1901. So you also should also be able to get a newspaper item about him, hopefully showing where buried. And also a copy of his death info from the Wills Office which may show burial information and cemetery (see their link further down) http://www.reading.lib.pa.us/reference_pennsylvaniaroom.asp You may want to look at all of your surnames, firstnames on the Register of Wills site. This is where I found the 2 names - one in Reading Deaths section and one in the estate/will section. This is their main page which has contact info on the bottom, and explains some of their holdings - shown under 'genealogy' section: http://www.co.berks.pa.us/rwills/site/default.asp This is their searchable index page for births, marriages, deaths, will/estates. http://www.co.berks.pa.us/rwills/s/RegMain.htm good luck. If you go to Google Maps at <http://maps.google.com/> and enter Stouchsburg, PA, then follow Main Street toward the east you will get to a place where Main Street becomes William Penn Blvd, which then meets Sheridan Rd. There is actually a bridge that goes over the Tulpehocken Creek (or it used to), but now that bridge is closed and is no longer shown on the map. At that point the Mill Creek comes in from the south and flows into the Tulpehocken. If you follow Sheridan Rd. north, you will pass the Reed Cemetery on your right before you get to Canal Rd. and Route 422. If you switch from the map to the satellite image at the highest resolution, perhaps you can make out the cemetery---but, to tell you the truth, I can't. I think it is between the road and the creek just north of the bend in the road. You can see the creeks and the roads most clearly by then switching to "Terrain." monroe co., pa. st. mark's ch. aka; zimmerman lutheran, laurel hilll ch., branchville, minisink hill, north water gap. this cem. is located down hill from st. mark's ch. at the minisink hills. it is believed that this cem. was the original burying ground of the zimmerman family who probably also provided the land on which the ch. was built. john georg zimmerman came to smithfield twp. from berks co around 1802 and built several mils on marshall's creek. the oldest tombstone found is that of johan georg zimmerman, who died in 1828 . the inscription on this stone indicates he was born in maxatawney twp., berks co. several other tombstone early zimmerman family members say were born at tulpehocken in lebanon co. The recording of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery was for the Tulpehocken Settlement Historical Society. They have printed the information in booklet form and is available for sale for $15.00. Check out their website at www.tulpehockenroots.org.
