No -- The only thing I have is Rachel's death certificate. I know that the Jacob Royer you are refering to has a 21 page estate in Berks County. He lived in Bethel Twp. In the 1850 Census of Cumru Twp William Gilbert and wife Rachel are living there. Do you have a listing of Jacob's children? I know in the 1850 Census Jacob is living with a wife Catharine born 1781 in PA and a Elizabeth Walborn born in 1802 in PA. By 1860 Jacob is there with Elizabeth Walborn and her family and Catherine is gone. Chris Christopher T. Smithson 127 N. Hi -- I am looking for information on a Jacob Royer and his wife Elizabeth Barrett or Bassett in Berks County, PA. They had a daughter Rachel who married William Gilbert in Reading, PA. Rachel was born on June 20, 1821 in PA and died in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania on September 6, 1914 at age 93. She was buried in East Harrisburg Cemetery in Harrisburg. Thank you, Christopher T. Smithson 127 N. Main Street Port Deposit, Maryland 21904-1211 (410) 378-2733 (Home) (410) 690-1299 (Cell) ctsmithson@verizon.net
Betty, That's my family. You gave me a few pieces I didn't know, I can fill them up. Aaron, the father in the 1850 census died in the Gettysburg fight where so many men died. I found out Gettysburg was building brick paths to honor those men so I bought a brick to honor him. They even told me which path his brick went into. Hi everyone! Apparently the mailing lists are experiencing some kind of server issues so this would explain the lack of messages not getting to the lists. If you've sent something within the last 48 hours, please be patient. Your message was most likely cached until the problem is fixed and will come to the list later. Kathy, ? We found John Bingaman's wife from a deed when the heirs of her father estate sold the land.? It was by chance John Bingaman's name was spotted in the deed as his name was not indexed.? It is a slow process but some times pays off.? ?Ann Bingaman Jacobs -----Original Message----- From: Kathy Stefanik <kjstefanik@cox.net> To: paberks@rootsweb.com Sent: Sat, 26 Apr 2008 6:24 pm Subject: [PABERKS] DeTurk/Schmidt/Unger/Becker Last year I received a cutting of an Easter cactus, which originally belonged to Esther DETURK (1813-1891). It is now in its first (for me) glorious!! bloom. I am taking that as a serendipitous sign that I should post my queries about this gg..grandmother. Esther DETURK (wife of Abraham BECKER DETURK, buried Strausstown) is the daughter of Elizabeth SCHMIDT (1790-1874) and Daniel UNGER. Daniel UNGER is the son of Herman UNGER and Elizabeth KEIM. I have searched and searched and searched for the parents of Esther's mother, Elizabeth Schmidt. What I know from Elizabeth's headstone at St Lukes (Perry Twp) are dates 15 August 1790 - 1 August 1874. I know from Elizabeth's Berks & Schuylkill Journal death notice that she was Daniel Unger's widow and that she was living near Shoemakersville when she died. And I know from Der Adler that she married Daniel Unger on 11 August 1811. Elizabeth's children include Sarah m. Henry Wheeler, Esther m. Abraham DeTurk, Elizabeth m. John Becker, Lovina m. Solomon Graeff, Caroline m. Henry Gardner, Susanna m. George Moll and Isaac m. Syria Weidman. (have more info if anyone is interested in any of her children). I've pored through Smith/Schmidt wills at the Berks courthouse but have not found one that mentions a likely Elizabeth, and I''ve studied and restudied pastoral records in Windsor/Perry township, but to date have missed any reference to Elizabeth Schmidt's parents. Any clues, any! suggestions, where else I should look next, are very very very much appreciated. Also a mystery are parents of Maria Becker (Esther DeTurk's mother-in-law). Maria Becker was married to Abraham Bertolet DeTurk (1778-1819). I know almost nothing about Maria, other than that she married Abraham in 1806 and is involved in settling Abraham's estate. Again, any clues to Maria's identity are very much appreciated!! Thanks for any leads!!
