Hi, The PA-Berks Website has a lot of cemetery info, http://berks.pa-roots.com/ and http://www.findagrave.com/ Find a Grave does also. I have contributed to both websites. If you are planning a trip to a cemetery, even if it is not in Berks Co., and you have a digital camera, take it along and snap some pictures of your relatives tombstones and if time allows do a couple of their neighbors and send the info from the tombstones to a website. The more info they have the more helpful they are. While touring in Connecticut we stopped at a small cemetery that had some of my husband's cousins there, We took an hour and were able to photograph most of the cemetery, I may have missed several tombstones so I only say most of it. When I got home I read the "readable" tombstones and, in Excel, created a file of them and sent it to Find A Grave. This takes longer than photographing, but I felt like I had done a good deed and may help some stranger with their ancestry, as many strangers have helped me. All the work done on these two websites has been done by volunteers. Michelle in OH

How does one access the resources listed in this Message Post? Also, how could I contact E. J. Wright? I am a descendant of Jackson Wright of Pennsylvania (my mother's great grandfather). I have been up against the brick wall for years trying to ascertain his parents names. I have traced him back to Brownsville, Pa. His daughter, Mary EllenWright was born in West Brownsville across the bridge and river from Brownsville. I am related to the Wright family thru her. They migrated to Iowa when she was young. Any information to help me brick down the wall would be very much appreciated. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, August 23, 2010 1:38 PM Subject: Re: [PABERKS] John Henrich "Henry" Bohn, Dilbon, Dilbone > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: audianaq41 > Surnames: Dilbon > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.berks/10204.1.3.1/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Just found baptism of son Henry, mentioned in will of his father: > > At Christ Delong Reformed Church, Bowers, Berks Co PA, baptized as Henry > Dielbon on 6/30/1765, son of Henry. > > Source: Berks Co Births 1760-1770, Vol 2, by HP Publishing, pub 1989. > > In Vol 2 of 'Berks Co Church Records of 18th Century', by F Edward Wright, > pub 1999, p 247, it shows the sponsors were Henry Sowah and wife. > Moselem Lutheran Church > Peter DILLBON, a shoemaker, son of Peter Dillbon, to Catharine KAMP, dau > of George KAMP (Allemaengel) were married after 3 proclomations on > 6/12/1758. > Diana >

Large single sheet, approximately 18” x 24”. The front side has the full manuscript text of the Indenture. Some relevant parts: “This Indenture Made the fifteenth Day of April in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred seventy seven Between Walter Newman, junior of Heidleberg, Township in the County of Berks in the Common Wealth of Pennsylvania Yeoman of the One part And Peter Newman of Heidleberg Township in the County of Lancaster in the said Common Wealth...” “Whereas the Hon. John Penn, Thomas Penn and Richard Penn Esq...granted released and Confirmed unto Walter Newman the Elder (Grand Father of the said Walter Newman party hereto) Two certain Tracts of Land...Recorded at Philad. in patent Book A Vol 11 page 243...” (Thomas, Richard and John Penn were the brother and sons of William Penn. At one point William Penn was considered the “absolute proprietor” of the land known as Pennsylvania. When he died in 1718, his sons took over the parceling of the land. Early Pennsylvania land deed indentures with the Penn names on them are rather rare and important documents.) “Together with all...Buildings, Out Houses, Barns, Stables, Sheds Gardens, Trees...all Rights Liberties Privileges...particularly the liberty and privilege of using the Water on every Monday Night in every Week...” The back side of the document has the official government seal, approval of witnesses, statement that the indenture is valid, and the date the document was presented and sealed, such date being February 21, 1778. Names mentioned on the backside include witness George Baab, witness Christophel Klein, Government official Peter Spycker. Condition: The document has been folded numerous times. It is split into 2 pieces (almost split into 3 pieces) along the horizontal folds. The vertical folds have some tearing but remain solid. There is some foxing, age staining, and some other staining. The text remains bright and fully legible throughout.

At one time BONNENHEIM then BONNEN, then BOHN. A common Given Name in the family was Diehl or Diehlmann and was a variation of the name Dietrich, Till or Tillmann. Leading to names such as as Johann Diehl Bohn. The family of Peter Diehl BOHN went to America on the ship Loyal Judith in 1740. Peter Diehl BOHN died on the way to America. His son, Johann Henrich BOHN, was listed on the passenger list at Philadelphia as Henrich THIELBON or DEALBONE. Descendants of this family go by the last name of DILBONE. Most of the above thanks to the research of fellow researcher Chaplain (Colonel) Dan Franklin. Another researcher from the Dilbone line shows a couple more Geiger children, but without source info: i. Maria Elisabetha GEIGER, born on 13 Mar 1776, Berks Co, PA. ii. Catherine GEIGER, born on 18 Oct 1777, Berks Co, PA. iii. Jacob GEIGER, born on 28 Feb 1779, Berks Co, PA. iv. Anna Maria GEIGER, born on 19 Oct 1780 in Berks Co, PA. v. Margaret GEIGER, born on 1 Oct 1784, Berks Co, PA. vi. Charles GEIGER, born in 1787, Berks Co, PA. vii. Heinrich GEIGER, born on 7 Oct 1789, Berks Co, PA. viii. Georg GEIGER, born on 13 Feb 1791, Berks Co, PA. He died on 22 May 1862. My Dilbone line comes from John "Henry" Dilbone through Anna Maria Dilbone Geiger's brother John. John married a Anna Maria Stahl in Rockland Twp., 10 Aug 1785. Would love to know where the father Henry is buried, as well as son John. Both are believed to have died in Berks County. She is listed as the daughter of Henry DILBON but her mother's name is not listed. It just says Henry DILBON of Rockland Township. The source is listed as Trinity Lutheran Church records, Reading. His wife Anna Maria must have died sometime between 1785, when her father's will was written and 1796 when he remarried. Marriages at Falkner Swamp Reformed show Charles GEIGER, widower, to Margaretha NEUMAN on 8/14/1796. (She was widow of Peter Specht who died c1795 in New Hanover, Montgo Co PA. I think Charles is another name for Carl. His Will was written on 29 Jun 1785 and proved 20 Jul 1785. The will identifies a wife Eve; sons: John DILBON, Henry DILBON; daughters and sons in law: Ann Mary and Charles GEIGER, Margaret and Jacob HENRY. The wording in the will indicates that Eve was likely a second wife or third wife and not the mother of the four named children. I would like to hear from anyone with knowledge of this family and would also like to know where he is buried. Thanks for any help.
