    3. I believe the Reading Times was a separate newspaper back in 1945. May be they were not on strike. Reading Library has Times microfilms. Some how it seems unlikely a funeral home would have an obituary when there was no newspaper to print it in. There was of course the Boyertown Times/Democrat whatever. The Hamburg Item. Pottstown Ledger/Mercury. But suspect if he lived and died in Reading and immediate suburbs, and the Times was also on strike, there is no obit. At least most people were reached with a 5 digit phone number. Guy Sue J wrote: > Maybe the paper was on strike but maybe the funeral home might have the obituary that never got printed. So if he travelled or may have reason to be known elsewhere you may check for the obituary in that town. 3. The Reading "area" covers a lot of ground and there are many small weekly newspapers published by these areas. They carry obituaries too. Can you narrow down the "area"? If it was close to a county line there might even be daily papers that would cover the area Mr. Trievel lived in. Betty

    3. I personally think the microfilm collections are the same no matter where you go. Try the Reading Eagle. Although they can look at the actually bound volumes, they may decline to do so and refer you to microfilmed sources or place that have microfilmed copies. But you also might want to find out why there is a laps in the time span. For example, could the paper have been on strike during that time? -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Jeffrey L.
