    2. Carole Hays
    3. I have reason to believe that my late uncle, Eugene Brown (1916-1990) was born in Berks County, Pennsylvania, USA. He said that his mother's name was Lottie Bennicoff. I think that the Eugene Brown who was living with the Bennicoff family in Maxatawny Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania, in 1930. Edwin was the head of household, Ellen was his wife, and Dorothy K.A. was their daughter. Eugene Brown (age 13 - my uncle's birthday was in September, so he would turn 14 later that year) was listed as their adopted son. If you know of this family and know anything about Eugene Brown's mother (Lottie Bennicoff) or his father (Mr. Brown), please let me know. I am researching for my uncle's son and daughter. I appreciate any help you can give me. Carole Hays Louisiana, USA

    1. [PABERKS] KAUFMAN - GRUBE - ROYER Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Cora KAUFMAN which was taken at the Strunk Studio in Reading, Pennsylvania. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with Cora likely in her teens or early 20's at the time. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Cora and her family: Cora R. GRUBE was b. 10 Sept 1890 in Reading, PA to parents John C. GRUBE (b. 1850 in Reading, PA) and Isabelle G. ROYER (b. 15 Oct 1857 in Reading, PA). Cora was one of 9 children born to this couple including, Wayne C.; Jacob R.; Harry R.; Royer S.; Mabel R.; Cora R.; Ralph R.; Isabella R.; and Lloyd R. GRUBE, all born in Akron, Boyertown, and Reading, PA between 1875 and 1896. Cora married Johnson KAUFMAN. I am hoping to locate someone from Cora's family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    3. In 1924 the Reading School District had 55 buildings. It appears that the closest public school to your ancestor's address was the "Chestnut Street" school located at Chestnut and Carpenter Streets. The Boys High School of the time was located at 8th and Washington Streets. Source: Reading and Berks County Pennsylvania - A History, Cyrus T. 3. I did not have any luck finding Barbara Peck's death dates, nor burial record. I did find her son Harrison Peck associated with the Central United Methodist church in Reading. His wife was Mary Arnold, who as it happens is in my Arnold line. They were married 30 September 1869. Mary died in 1905 and is in Charles Evans cemetery. As you are probably aware, St. Johns German Lutheran church split from Trinity in the early 1860s. They maintain a cemetery adjacent to Trinity's on Neversink mountain. ================ Does anyone have a survey of the tombstone/gravesites on Neversink from Trinity Lutheran Church? ?I am looking for a William PECK and his wife Barbara LANDIS who are buried there. ?The burial records of Trinity Lutheran church show William PECK born Lancaster co., died 2/13/1876, age 70/9/4 and buried in the Lutheran cemetery. ? A check of the cemetery index for the Berks Co Hist Soc shows both William and Barbara buried on Neversink Mt Trinity Lutheran. ?Sadly, the burial records for the church do not show Barbara's death. ?She died sometime between 1860 and 1870 as she was not on the census in 1870 with William. ?She is a sister of my gr2grandfather, and a daughter of Henry LANDIS and wife Maria HIGH who located from E Nantmeal Twp in Chester Co to Churchtown area of Lancaster co. ?They married at E Vincent Reformed church in Chester Co on 11/5/1829 and at that time she was from E Nantmeal and he from Caernarvon, Lanc Co., a son of Jacob PECK. ?The were in Reading on the 1! 850-1860 census. Thanks for any help in finding her death date. ?I want to add her to FindaGrave, and link her children to her, ?but need dates for her, if she is there. Diana in AL
