I've "rescued" a group of photographs which I believe all belong to the PENNOCK Family of Pennsylvania. The first photograph is one of Isabella L. PENNOCK Jr. which was take at the Gilbert & Bacon Studio in Philadelphia, PA sometime in the 1880's or 1890's with Isabella likely in her 20's or 30's at the time. She is also identified as "Aunt Belle" on the back of the photograph. The second photograph is of Alice PENNOCK and was taken at the Husted Studio in Philadelphia, PA sometime in the 1880's or 1890's with Alice likely in her 30's at the time it was taken. Alice is also identified as "Aunt" on the back of the photograph. In addition there are two photographs of young girls, both taken at the Phillips Studio in Philadelphia, PA in the 1890's with the girls appearing to be about 4 to 8 years old at the time. I believe the two young girls are also members of the PENNOCK Family. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family: Isabella Liddon PENNOCK was b. 5 May 1853 in Holmesburg, PA to parents George PENNOCK (1812-1900) and Sarah SELLERS (1812-1892). Isabella was one of 10 children born to this couple including, Elizabeth; Anna S.; Sarah Wistar; Jane Sellers; John Sellers; Alice; Mary Coleman; Isabella Liddon; Edward M.; and Alma L. PENNOCK, all born between 1836 and 1861. Isabella never married and she died 12 Aug 1920 in South Heidelberg or Lansdowne or Wernersville, PA and is buried in the Friends Southwestern Burial Ground in Upper Darby, PA. Her sister Alice PENNOCK was b. 6 Apr 1846 in Holmesburg, PA and was also unmarried, she died 1 Jul 1944 in Philadelphia, PA and is buried in the same cemetery as her sister. There has been Hockleys in Pennsylvania since the early 1700s when Henry Hockley of Chester County first appears. I wish any male Hockleys would take the Y-DNA tests (at least at the 37 marker level) at Family Tree DNA of Houston, Texas, to see if they would match myself and my distant cousin Bruce James Hockley of Australia. Our Hockey ancestors came from Thaxted, Essex County, England. Bruce's and mine most recent common ancestor was William Hockley (1597/98 to 1657) of Thaxted. I descend from William's oldest son William Hockley (1624 to 1680) of Thaxted, while Bruce descends from John Hockley (1627 to before 1701) of Thaxted, a younger son of the senior William Hockley. Denny, I also do not understand why anyone is giving permission to move anything nor do I know where the posts might be moved to. I believe I must have not received the initiating message/messages. That aside, I looked for Rootsweb on the net and it came up at https://home.rootsweb.com/ At this location you can find the World Connect, the message pages and the mailing lists that will be archived and RootsWeb Family History Wiki. I actually explored all sections including the mailing list. They are as they always were and it appears. All e-mails that have been exchanged will remain in the mailing list archives, the ability to post and receive new messages will be discontinued. I've always confused things I've posted at Rootweb with things I posted at GenWeb. For anyone interested the GenWeb archives is still on line, not at Ancestry but here http://usgwarchives.net/pa/berksp/ We also still have the Berks page at pa-roots http://www.berks.pa-roots.com/ I have to admit I have not been active on the mailing list for some time and traffic has dwindled. Betty and all, Ancestry is not getting rid of Rootsweb. They are just ending the mailing lists. While the mailing lists were what was the beginning of Rootsweb, Rootsweb has many other features that will remain active. The message boards, web sites and World Connect are going to remain a part of Rootsweb. The lists will remain static and searchable. After march 2nd, no new posts to the lists will be accepted. I'm not sure what started everyone posting messages that they are giving permission to move their posts as that is not needed. The posts will remain part of Rootsweb and the search engine will remain active. There is no need for anyone to move the posts. As a list administrator myself, moving all the posts to another platform would be a daunting task as there is no way to do it and retain the relation between the posts so why bother when they will remain searchable on Rootsweb? I will miss the lists but in the last few years I have seen a dramatic decrease in usage. Many lists like this one had fairly active postings but many including some I admin have had very little action. I'm sure that as well as the ever increasing cost of maintaining the servers is what prompted Ancestry to end them but lets not dig a grave just yet for Rootsweb itself. How long it lasts remains to be seen but if it could quote a Monty Python movie, "I'm not dead yet!
