    3. Hi Deanna, Cooks Ferry was known as the Shippingport Ferry in more recent days. It crossed the Ohio near the site of the bridge between Shippingport and Midland, PA. The 1937 WPA inventory of Beaver County cemeteries listed an Oak Grove Cemetery, in Industry Township with 50 graves. There is an Oak Grove Church shown on the Midland Quadrangle map, about 3 miles north of where the ferry landing would have been. The cemetery is not in the GNIS data base, or shown on the map, but I suspect that it is located next to the church, or in close proximity to it. On the Beaver County map it appears that it would be on Fairview Road, about 2.5 miles from where it goes off PA Route 68 about 0.5 miles west of the Montgomery Dam. The Oak Grove Church is in the GNIS data base, on the Midland Quadrangle (not the one on the Baden Quadrangle). The GNIS data base can be found at <http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html> The Geodetic Survey data base currently lists 48 of the 125 cemeteries that were on the 1937 WPA inventory. That is 8 more than they had when I first started working with them. They have provided me with a set of maps on which to locate and identify the missing cemeteries. That is my summer project. I am familiar with most of the area south of the Ohio River but I would appreciate any assistance that anyone on this list can provide in locating the missing cemeteries, particularly the small private ones. I intend to do an on-site visit to each cemetery and mark the location on the applicable quadrangle map. If anyone has a GPS receiver from which we can obtain accurate coordinates of each cemetery, it would be particularly helpful.
