Dear Susan Hello from a Mann girl (My maiden name)Grew up in Baden, Beaver Co. >From "Western Pennsylvania Historical Magazine, Vol. 65, 1982" which I believe I found in the U. of Central Florida library in Orlando, there is the following: "Reconstructing Crawford's Army of 1782" by Parker B. Brown Page 29 Thomas Rankin's company: The Rose Journal shows thirty men, the Pennsylvania Archives thirty-eight, and the Militia Loan Twenty-five. In this instance, the Pennsylvania Archives total appears the more accurate, judging from Daniel Hamilton's pension declaration: "I raised a party of volunteers to join Crawfords campaign and marche with them to Mingo bottom where we joined Captain Thomas Rankin...had about twenty men --Then together with my party, consisting of nineteen men (of)which Captain Rankin was elected Captain, I chosed (sic) Lieutenant, and Hugh Forbes Ensign..." There is a lot more, and of course I didn't xerox it all. I was looking for stuff about my own ancestor, William Nemons/Nemmins, who was shot and scalped near Coshocton on the retreat from Sandusdey. There is also a really good book called "That Dark and Bloody River" by Eckerd. I recommend it highly for anyone looking for info on forts, battles, etc. with the Indians at that period in history. Hope this helps. Marcia Mann Duggins in Florida
