On the lists I belong to, I have noticed several messages regarding NARA and the possible change in preservation of materials. In my most recent issue (September/October, 1998) of the National Geographic Traveler, I noticed an article titled "A Real Census of Family." The article discusses the availability of census and other records at NARA and gives the Washington, DC address, phone number and internet address. A little damage control, maybe.
