    1. Re: [PABEAVER-L] Beaver Co. research
    2. i would go to 2 places: --the Beaver County courthouse. go back to the Register of Wills office. they have a book that lists all the early wills of the county. this will give you the will book number and page number, if your ancestor left a will. all the early will books are on microfilm, the ladies there will get the roll you need out of the drawer, and put it in the film viewer for you. you can make copies off the microfilm for 50 cents a page. this is also the office where the deaths, from 1893-1906, *I think*, are registered, in big old books, also the marriage registers are in this office. also stop in the Recorder of Deeds office. any land bought or sold in the county, from 1800 to yesterday, is registered in this office. look in the Grantor (seller) and Grantee (buyer) indexes, there is a book for transactions from 1800-1880. this will tell you which book volume # and page # to look for. There is often a surprising amount of family information contained in a deed. all the deed books are available in the actual book form, as well as on microfilm rolls, whichever you prefer to look at. --then go to the Beaver County Center for Historical Research. this is located in Beaver Falls, upstairs in the Carnegie library. they have *everything* (and i am not exaggerating too much). they have warrantee maps, county histories, farm directories, newspapers on microfilm, cemetery listings, censuses, landowner maps, tax lists, a surname file to find others working on your surname, old school yearbooks, obituary files. and, most important, the people who work here know where everything is. in fact, they seem to know everything about Beaver County, period. so just ask! good luck, JoAnn.
