Jean Butler It is possible there is a connection. My information regarding the Lyon family of Beaver County was obtained from "The Family of Samuel Lyon, Bourbon County, Kentucky," by Mrs. Arthur L. Mitchell and Lyon J. Hoard which appeared in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, Vol. , pp. 17-25, the will of Jacob Lyon located in Beaver County, and the census records for Beaver County 1830 to 1850. According to the National Genralogical Society article, Samuel Lyon came from England or Scotland to Philadelphia when there was but three cabins there. He had two or three children when he came. It is thought he went into Maryland and died there. All that is known of his family is that he had a son Samuel, born 1706-1707,who died 1807-08, at the age 101 years. Samuel II, referred to as the Centenarian was twice married and had eleven children by each wife. The name of his known wife was Susan. The family of Samuel Lyon the Centenarian moved to Redstone Blockhouse, Fayette County, Pa, about 1780. About 1795, Samuel, with sons Samuel, Jonathan, Jacob and Abraham moved to Georgetown, Beaver County, Pa. (located on the westward bend of the Ohio River near the Ohio state line0 where all but Jonathan remained. About 1800 Samuel Jr., (the pioneer) moved to Kentucky. Jacob died at 84, supposedly in Columbiana County, Ohio. ["The Family of Samuel Lyon, Bourbon County, Kentucky, However a will for one Jacob Lyon was proved and recorded on November 22, 1844 in the Office of the Register, Beaver County, PA. in Will Record B, pp 389, 390, 391. It may be the Jonathan, the son of Samuel could be an ancestor of yours. Do you have any dates for your Jonathan? Hope this information may be of use, I was informed that Ohio Township where my ancestors lived was a part of Allegheny County. I may have to research there also. John E. Logue
