Is anyone researching the 13th Virginia Regiment which was formed in 1777 from recruits in Yohogania and which was under the command of Col. Gibson at Ft. McIntosh (present day Beaver, Pa.) and possibly other forts in Ohio and West Virginia? I recently saw a wonderful article by Frank Carver at: http://192.204.74.2/beavercounty/BAHF/FortMc.Carver/Carver.Main.html which has an appendix that summarizes the muster rolls for the 12 companies of the 13th Virginia as well as four companies of the 8th Pennsylvania. Listed in the company of Capt. Springer is WILLIAM JENKINS, Sergeant, a fellow I believe to be my ancestor. The article is entitled FORT McINTOSH, THE STORY OF ITS HISTORY AND RESTORATION OF THE SITE, and is a wonderful depiction of frontier military life. The site also details the archaeology that has been done at the old fort which is fascinating in and of itself. If anyone knows how to access the original muster rolls and other related records of the 13th Virginia Regiment of the Continental Line, I would appreciate hearing from you. All the best.
