Hello, I just noticed the Web site with some of the history of Providence Baptist Church, in Beaver County near Ellwood City. The item is from an article by Marjorie Straub in Milestones Vol. 4 No. 4-Autumn 1978.I found the page by navigating from: http://192.204.74.2/AAAHome%20Page.html It starts: "On November 14, 1801 Brother Ezekiel Jones and his wife, Hannah, along with 21 charter members met to organize a new church under Elder Henry Spear, who probably was an intinerant Baptist preacher. The Providence Baptist Church is the oldest Baptist Church of worship in the county." This account mentions "early lists of members." Does anyone know anything about these early records or where they may be found? Since some of my ancestors are buried beside the church, I'd love to know what church records say about them. I have to assume they were members since they are buried there and one, Andrew Nye, appears in earlier Baptist records near Pittsburgh. Some accounts say that one of them (Michael Nye, son of Andrew Nye) was a Baptist minister. I'd love to find a source backing up that information.
