Sharon asked about the crematories in early Rochester, PA. I can't help with that but I would like to pass on some information I received from a present day Crematory. Lacock Cremation Services sent the following info to me: " Lacock Cemetery has been closed for about 35 years. The cemetery is owned by the Rochester Historical Society, which has been out of existence for 4 years. Prior to the closing of the cemetery it was operasted by a widow who died in 1968 and donated the cemetery to the historical society. To our knowledge the records of the burials do non existent, and numerous graves are unmarked, or the weather has removed the lettering on the stones, or the stones were vandalized over the years. We purchased the property next to the cemetery in 1994, and have tried to help maintain the cemetery by cutting the grass. We hope to develop a map of the recognizble stones and grave markers. However we have not accomplished much to date." I was in the cemetry last year and the man does not exaggerate, but I was able to find my ancestors grave site. Hopefully this info will be of help to someone else. Ted (tkrampf@aol.com) Researching KAUFMAN
