I am wondering whether anyone has information on Mary Dickerson Stephens who was living in Beaver County on 27 May 1835. Her husband's name is thought to have been either Robert or Thomas Stephens, but that is unproven, so far as I know. Mary was a daughter of Joshua Dickerson and Susanna Witten of Fayette County (the eighth of their fourteen children). She was born c. 1778 and probably married c. 1800. I recently found a Harrison County, Ohio deed in which Mary appeared in court on 17 May 1835 in connection with the settlement of the estate of one of her brothers. That document refers to her as being a resident of Beaver County and she was sworn by a justice of the peace there. It also lists Mary's other siblings and their spouses, but mentions no husband for Mary, so I believe she was probably a widow by that date. I would like to learn where in Beaver County she was living and what contemporary cemeteries are in that area. I do not know whether she was still living at the time of the 1840 census, or whether she had children. [She probably did - her father's will specifically singles out his one child who did not have children, so I presume the others all did.] If anyone knows anything of Mary or her family, I would be most interested in finding out about her.
