    1. [PABEAVER-L] Location: Gardendale - From SMITH family obituary (repost?)
    2. Van Kirk, Jarrod
    3. I am not sure if this has gone through or not. I have not seen it. All: I found the following obituary during the course of my genealogy research, and I want to order the Death Certificate now, as I think the gentleman mentioned may be my great-great-grandfather. Does anyone know the location Gardendale? It may be somewhere near East Palestine, Ohio, but may also be in Pennsylvania near Beaver County. --------------------------------------------------- Beaver Falls Evening Tribune - Published February 8, 1916 "William J. Smith William James Smith, 60, of near East Palestine, O., died at the home of his son, W. S. Smith, Gardendale, Friday after four weeks of illness from pneumonia. Mr. Smith was born in Beaver county, May 20, 1848, and was married to Armanda E. Stover, to which union four children were born. He was buried Monday in the Wilson Cemetery near New Galilee." -------------------------------------------------- I think there is a HIGH probability that this is my William James Smith. They give his age as 60, but that is obviously wrong based on the dates listed. He would be about 67. Armanda E. Stover could easily have been Amanda E. Trover, his wife. Son, W. S. Smith could be his son, William S. Smith. 4 Children. (he had William S., Ida "Idie", Eliza, and Effa "Effie or Minnie". We know Idie, Eliza and William S. were all buried in Wilson Cemetery, where this William James was buried.
