    3. Hello everyone, I am a "silent" observer of your list and was interested to see the reference to the book Pennsylvania Colony and Commonwealth. I am trying to find out if a certain Marmaduke Pardo who emigrated to Pennsylvania in 1727 had any descendants. The information I have found so far is as follows: Marmaduke Pardo Son of Simon Pardo, Parish Clerk of St David's, Wales. Born about 1681. Chorister: 1693 (about 13 years old) Sub-deacon 1698 (about 17?) In 1706 was appointed Vicar Choral of St David's Cathedral. In 1708 he became a Quaker. In January 1726/7 he obtained a Removal Order to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania In 1729 he married Gainor Jones at Merion Meeting (He was of Gwynedd Meeting) In the book, “Historical Collections Relating to Gwynedd, Pennsylvania” by Howard M. Jenkins, 2nd Edition 1897, Chapter 27: "In 1729, it appears that Marmaduke Pardo of Gwynedd, schoolmaster, was married at Merion 4th month, 27th, so Gwynedd had a teacher, at least that early”. The schoolhouse had been provided in 1721. It goes on “Marmaduke came from Pembrokeshire, Wales, with the following quaint certificate, dated April 19th, 1727: “We whose names are hereunto subscrib’d, being the Curate and others of the inhabitants of the parish of St David’s, do hereby certify whom it may concern that ye bearer hereof, Marmaduke Pardo, of the City of St David’s and county of Pembroke hath to ye utmost of our knowledge & all appearance liv’d a very sober and pious life, demeaning himself according to ye Strictest Rules of his profession, viz. wt what we call Quakerism & yt he hath for these several years past took upon himself ye keeping of a private school in this citty, in which station he acquitted himself with ye common applause, and to ye general satisfaction of all of us who have committed our children to his care and tuition” etc. (signed by Richard Roberts, curate and about 25 others) >From IGI Marmaduke Pardo (AFN:X2SB-XR Birth ab 1700 < Merion Twp Philadelphia Penn (Incorrect) spouse Gainor Jones (AFN:X2SB-ZX) married 27 April 1729 Merion Meeting, Philadelphia, Penn.
