Do you know if the MARATTA's of Beaver County, Penn are of Irish or Italian heritage. I understand my Maratta's are Irish. On the marriage certificate in 1820, Bullit County, Kentucky the surname was spelled MORATY, for my ancestor Peter H MORATY. In 1830 when buying land in Missouri it is spelled MARATTA. am having quite a time sorting them out.
