    1. [PABEAVER] Probate research question
    2. Cheryl Hartley
    3. Hello. I have not done any previous research in Beaver County, PA, although I have been researching for a long time. I am wondering about the best way to access the probate records for Christopher WHIPPLE (Wippel or Wipple) who died September 14, 1877. Christopher was a resident of New Sewickley. I have the text of his will which refers to "granddaughters," the daughters of his son Charles. The granddaughters are not named in the will. I believe that my gg-grandmother, Kate Wippel Miller, was one of these granddaughters. She would have been an adult and married by the time of Christopher's death. I am hoping Kate received her payment from the estate and the records will include her by name. My questions for the list are these: Does the Courthouse still hold the probate records for the year in question? Can I write to obtain the information? If so, how much is the fee? I couldn't find any info on the courthouse website beyond the address. I live in Southern WV and a trip to do the research in person is highly unlikely. I have a difficult time getting to my nearest family history center which is 1 hour and 20 minutes each way. I would appreciate feedback on how to proceed with my research.
