    3. Darlene, I would locate the following documents: 1. Robert Mitchell should have a death certificate somewhere. I don't known any about Ohio Death certificates. His parents may be listed on it. 2. Robert and Mary should have obits somewhere. 3. Look for a Beaver Co and/or a Lawrence Co Marriage License. (You can rent the Beaver Co Marriage Licenses from the LDS.) They are hard to search because they are recorded in the order issued. 4. Do you have an appx marriage date? If not subtract a year from the birth of the oldest child. 5. Always call Libraries and check schedules a couple of days before you leave home. (I was lucky I had one change their mine about being open on Veterans Day. I would of been very mad about driving 400 miles and finding the doors locked. 6. In Beaver Co we usually stay at "The Willows" on RT 68 in Midland. It is convent to the Beaver Co Court House and RT 60 which goes to New Castle. Where is home? When do you plan to go to Beaver? Any other questions? 3. Darlene, Depending on what your looking for, I would recommend the family folders in the Beaver Co Genie Library first. Have your names, birth and death dates on a simple list (File Cards) so you don't waste time looking in your files. Make a wish list. Items in order of importance. Search wisely, i.e., Don't go to Beaver County to read Beaver County Census Records.. Sometimes the gold mine is in the spouses surname folder. What Surnames are you looking for? 3. Darlene, The Lawrence Co. Courthouse is at 433 Court St. in Newcastle. [Phone: 724-658-2541] It sits on a hill and you can see it for miles. The Death and Birth records are in the clerks office and run from 1893-1905. All the old journals are squirreled away slap dash fashion in an back section. One of the gals may help you find the record book you need and it's pretty much find something to support the book and stand there and search away. As of about 2 years ago the books were in awful shape and coming apart, so don't get your hopes up too high. The only records older than that are the divorce and court records which run from 1855. There may be land records that are older, but since Lawrence wasn't founded until 1849, there aren't likely 1850 records still housed there. Just speculation on my part, but since the Southern tier of townships were previously part of Beaver Co., I wouldn't be surprised if they are still housed a the Wampum mine along with all the old original Beaver documents. If so, you're out of luck for these townships. The suggestion that you try the New Castle Library is a good one, but check the hours. They've cut back a bit...I made the 150 mile drive a while ago arriving mid morning and they opened about 3. What a bummer. They have an especially good obit file and the reading room has a good collection of local genealogy books. Good Luck. Ed Brobeck edbrobeck@adelphia.net

    2. Beaver Falls Genealogical Society is on 2nd floor of Beaver Falls Library. They have a nice supply of information. The library at New Castle has a lot of information. Several years ago I spent lots of time in both libraries and found lots of information on my lines.
