On the 1830 census of Beaver County, Jacob POWELL is enumerated two times. However, there is a difference in the composition of the two households. I am seeking information on each of the two POWELL men named Jacob. One of them is the son of Joseph. What is the other Jacob's parentage? 1830 Pennsylvania, Beaver, New Sewickley Roll: 165; Page: 293 Jacob Powell 2 males under 5 1 male 20-30 1 female under 5 1 female 20-30 Jacob Powell 2 males under 5 1 male 20-30 1 female under 5 2 females 30-40 Any info useful. MURPHY <bjmurphy@zoomnet.net> wrote: Joseph married Brabara Boehm/Beam. They had a son named Joseph b. 1794 in Washington Co., PA. The elder Joseph did live in Beaver Co. also. Is this the one you need? Thanks for writing. Other researchers have told me "our" Joseph did indeed marry a Barbara BOEHM/BEAM, but no one has any proof of that statement, so I am not sure. However, Joseph did live awhile in Beaver and did own land and die there so this might be the same one. Our Joseph died in the 1840-s so that would make him near 100 when he died f he is the same as yours. Well, after a little more exploration, I answered my own question about probate records! I see that the information is separately listed under "services" on the Register of Wills web page for the Beaver County Courthouse. I hope to have success in my request! Cheryl Hartley
Hello. I have not done any previous research in Beaver County, PA, although I have been researching for a long time. I am wondering about the best way to access the probate records for Christopher WHIPPLE (Wippel or Wipple) who died September 14, 1877. Christopher was a resident of New Sewickley. I have the text of his will which refers to "granddaughters," the daughters of his son Charles. The granddaughters are not named in the will. I believe that my gg-grandmother, Kate Wippel Miller, was one of these granddaughters. She would have been an adult and married by the time of Christopher's death. I am hoping Kate received her payment from the estate and the records will include her by name. My questions for the list are these: Does the Courthouse still hold the probate records for the year in question? Can I write to obtain the information? If so, how much is the fee? I couldn't find any info on the courthouse website beyond the address. I live in Southern WV and a trip to do the research in person is highly unlikely. I have a difficult time getting to my nearest family history center which is 1 hour and 20 minutes each way. I would appreciate feedback on how to proceed with my research. Cheryl Hartley Beckley, WV

Antrim, Ireland, lived in Beaver county. It seems he originally settled in Pittsburgh in 1850, then New Sheffield from 1871. He was a carpenter and merchant; had seven childen in two marriages. It would be interesting to get in touch with descendants; I have quite a bit of information on the Irish family and on other connections in America
Hello All, I came across a couple of interesting items recently that I though might be useful to some of you. First a nice color map of PA showing all of the counties and the other was a book on Chambersburg in Franklin Co. that, near the beginning, lists all of the members of the PA Historical Society as of 1856. I found one possible ancestor of my own on the list (Chambers), now I just have to figure where, or if, he fits in! I scanned the first part of the book and the map and placed them on my web site at http://www.midatlanticarchives.com if anyone is interested in viewing them - the book is listed simple as "Chambersburg". Nancy, There were Hublers in Lawrence Co. [North Beaver Twp.] in the mid 1800's. Lawrence was created in 1849 from parts of Beaver and Mercer Counties. The distance between Chippewa Twp.in Beaver Co. and North Beaver Twp. in Lawrence is less than 20 miles. You might check with the genealogy dept at the New Castle Public Library about this connection. Another suggestion...explore the possibility of Katrina actually being Catherine. Ed Brobeck
Sue, The Beaver County Marriage License applications are on micro film from the LDS. If you want to verify they received a license from Beaver County. For a copy write the Court House (Recorder of _?_) and specify you want a copy of the marriage license application. Sue, To get a copy of a 1910 License, make a request to: Carol Fiorucci, Register of Wills 810 3rd St. Beaver, PA 15009 Include a check for $1.00 per license and a self addressed stamped envelope. You must know the date, the maiden name of the female and the name of the male. Should you not have this info, the office will research a 5 year span. This is all on microfilm and if you can get to Beaver, you can do it yourself for only the copy charge. A warning...some of the microfilms of this period are in poor condition [they show as silver text on a black background ] and may not be readable, so keep you fingers crossed. This is a great office and they will do everything they can to meet your request in a timely manner. Good luck, Ed Brobeck
Does anyone have a History of Beaver County, or other place ( such as old marriage, death, etc) they can look up to find info on the Owens Family. Henry Owens and family was there in the Chippewa Dist 1827-1840's. Unable to find him on the 1850 census anywhere, and in 1860 he is in Scioto County, Ohio with wife Leah and family. I have unsubstantiated info that he married Katrina Hubler, however, can find to record of Hublers in that area. Is Leah (surname unknown) his second wife? So far this is my brick wall. any help would be greatly appreciated. Nancy May
Greetings: My mother's uncle, Harry Greaves, is listed in the 1910 census with wife Ida, ages 33 and 28, and it indicates they have been married less than one year. Her maiden name may have been McGraw. Does anyone have access to marriage records for this period? If not, where can I obtain a copy of the marriage record? Thank you very much! Sue
