The children I show for Isaac and Millie are, Robert M., b. 1870; Thomas P., b. 1872; Mary F. , b. 1875; James M. or W.; b. 1878 and Dorothy, b. 1884. There may have been other children. Isaac J. Green served in the 147th PA Infantry with his brother, Alfred Holland Green (who enlisted under the surname of Potts) in the Civil War. Hope this helps you in your search. Modena Williams
if anyone replies, please send the message to the list and to me as I am trying to find out if George had a daughter/relative Catherine Scott b. 10 Feb 1814 Beaver Co., PA, as she was baptised by Rev. Scott when she turned 18. this will be of interest to anyone researching Rev. George Scott. from extant records of Beaver Co., PA-they are not in chronological order, so may be a bit confusing; Scott, Anne, died at the res. of her son-in-law S. H. Jeffrey, Esq. of Hookstown, consort of the late Rev. George Scott, aged 79, 17 Nov. 1852 Scott, Anna Brown, died of scarlet fever, 1st inst., aged 4yrs 7mo 2wks & 5days, dau. of Rev. George and Mary Scott of Darlington 14 Mar 1838 Scott, Rev. George, Darlington, married Miss Louisa Appauline, dau of Robert Forbes, Esq. of Petersburgh, Ohio, 28th ult. by Rev. Robert Dilworth. 6 Dec 1843 Scott, Rev. George, died 15th inst. of Greene Twp., aged 88 yrs, Mill Creek Presby Ch. minister for 40 yrs. 18 Aug 1847. Estate notice. Robert McFerran & Samuel H. Jeffery, Exrs. 25 Aug 1847. Scott, Martha Cannon, died 22nd ult. of scarlet fever, aged 2yr 5 mo 2wks & 4days dau. of Rev. George and Mary Scott of Darlington. 14 Mar 1838. Scott, Mary, died 5th inst. in her 34th yr. wife of Rev. George Scott of Darlington. 9 Nov. 1842 M'Ferran, Mrs. Mary, died, yesterday, consort of Robert M'Ferran, Esq. of Hookstown, and dau. of Rev. George Scott, aged 41 yrs. 16 Aug 1843. McFerran, Robert, Esq., one of the County commissioners, residing near Hookstown, died of Cholera, age about 50, Sat. last. 18 Jul 1849 (Wed.) Estate notice. William Smith, admr. 8 Aug 1849 so, 1st Mary nee Brown? 2nd, Louisa Appauline Forbes 3rd, Ann Rhea or is there yet another marriage? as Mary McFerran was b. in 1803? it would make sense, since Rev. Scott was b. abt 1759. he should be married first by 1785, I would think. I would be very interested in finding the rest of George's family. and this as an afterthought... of interest; Scott, Joseph, Greene Twp., decd., estate notice. S. H. Jeffrey, Hookstown, Exr. 2 Aug 1848 (dated 12 Jul) hope this helps someone, and in return, perhaps someone can help me find out who Catherine's parents were... regards, Cornelia of further interest, I checked the 1850 census, forgetting that Rev. Scott died in 1847. there is a George Scott in Darlington, a clergyman-if memory serves me correctly, this family had a history of men of the cloth, so this George Scott, b. abt 1803, may be his son-one caveat...this George Scott is said to be born in Ireland-do we know where Rev. Scott was born? or if he traveled with his family? or if his wives traveled to the old country to see family? seems little is known of him. Google for him and you will find some information, though. census records for Rev. George "Sr" ("Jr". was in Darlington in 1840) I cannot say for certain if this is Rev. George Scott in the 1800 census. 1800 Pennsylvania > Beaver > Second Moon 10010 01100 1 fwm under 10, 0 fwm 10-15, 0 fwm 16-25, 1 fwm 26-45, 0 fwm 45 and over 0 fwf under 10, 1 fwf 10-15, 1 fwf 16-25, 0 fwf 26-25, 0 fwf 45 and over 1810 Pennsylvania > Allegheny > Pittsburgh (Beaver Co. was made out of Allegheny Co. and Washington Co., though I think it was a bit earlier than this and that George was just moving around...) Is this the same Isaac Green that was married to Matilda Peterson Potts? Janis -----Original Message----- From: pabeaver-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:pabeaver-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of DeanaT4@aol.com Sent: Tuesday, December 05, 2006 4:41 PM To: pabeaver@rootsweb.com Subject: [PABEAVER] Jacob Green-PA Hi Cathy, I goofed on my first reply to you. Picked up an old group sheet from when I first started researching the Greens rather than a newer, corrected one. Jacob is the child of Isaac Green and Sarah Elizabeth Potts, not Nancy Goddard. His wife is the daughter of John Cowfer and Nancy Springer and Sarah is the sister of Alfred Green's wife Mary Elizabeth Cowfer. Some records will be found under the spelling of Coffer or Crawford. Sorry for the confusion. 'Twas the night before Christmas When all through the house Not a creature was stirring, Not even my spouse. The dining room table with clutter was spread With pedigree charts and with letters which said... "Too bad about the data for which you wrote; Sank in a storm on an ill-fated boat." Stacks of old copies of wills and such Were proof that my work had become too much. Our children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of sugarplums danced in their heads. And I at my table was ready to drop From work on my album with photos to crop. Christmas was here, and such was my lot That presents and goodies and toys I'd forgot. Had I not been busy with grandparents' wills, I'd not have forgotten to shop for such thrills, While others bought gifts to bring Christmas cheers, I'd spent time researching those birth dates and years. While I was thus musing about my sad plight, A strange noise on the lawn gave me such a great fright. Away to the window I flew in a flash, Tore open the drapes and yanked up the sash. When what with my wondering eyes should appear, But an overstuffed sleigh and eight small reindeer. Up to the house top the reindeer they flew, With a sleigh full of toys and 'ole Santa Claus, too. And then in a twinkle, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of thirty-two hoofs. As I drew in my head, and bumped it on the sash, Down the cold chimney fell Santa--KER-RASH! "Dear" Santa had come from the roof in a wreck, And tracked soot on the carpet, (I could wring his short neck!) Spotting my face, good 'ole Santa could see I had no Christmas spirit you'd have to agree. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work And filled all the stockings, (I felt like a jerk). Here was Santa, who'd brought us such gladness and joy: When I'd been too busy for even one toy. He spied my research on the table all spread "A genealogist!" He cried! (My face was all red!) "Tonight I've met many like you," Santa grinned, As he pulled from his sack a large book he had penned. I gazed with amusement--the cover it read Genealogy Lines for Which You Have Plead. "I know what it's like as a genealogy bug." He said as he gave me a great Santa hug. "While the elves make the sleigh of toys I now carry, I do some research in the North Pole Library! A special treat I am thus able to bring, To genealogy folk who can't find a thing." "Now off you go to your bed for a rest, I'll clean up the house from this genealogy mess." As I climbed up the stairs full of gladness and glee, I looked back at Santa who'd brought much to me. While settling in bed, I heard Santa's clear whistle, To his team, which then rose like the down of a thistle. And I heard him exclaim as he flew out of sight, "Family history is Fun! Merry Christmas! Goodnight!" --Author Unknown

Was there a Methodist church? My ggg-grandmother Sarah Catherine KOONSE (or KOUNTZ, many variants) was born at Wellsville, Columbiana Co., OH on 15 May 1831 and was married to Capt. David Clinton HANEY in Columbiana Co., OH on 19 Aug 1851 by James A. SNEAD, Minister of the Gospel. This couple appears in the 1860 census in Georgetown borough, Beaver, PA with children Viola and David, Jr. Another child, George Washignton HANEY was born about 1853 and died abt 1855 and is said to be buried in "Pennsylvania". I am guessing that this occurred in Georgetown, but not sure. Perhaps if I can find a local church I can find a record of baby George Washington HANEY. I would love to find where he is buried. In all these years he has never been forgotten, but we just don't know where he is. Capt. Haney was a steamboat pilot and Captain. At this time, in the 1850s, he may not have been a Captain yet. But in the 1860 census, his occupation is listed as SB Captain. Haney later went to St. Louis and ran his boats up to the headwaters of the Missouri and down to New Orleans. I have copies of some 1860s log books, memoirs and copies of a very few precious photos of Haney and his two children & one postcard of his stemboat the "Mollie Moore". Some of this was donated in the 1970s to the Durham Western Heritage Museum in Omaha, Nebraska and goes on display every now and then. I would be happy to share the info I have with anyone interested. Any suggestions as to a cemetery used in the 1850s in Georgetown or churches in the area would be most welcome.
