    2. Sheila O'Connell Bell
    3. Hi, A while back I posted an inquiry on the SHUCKEROW family of Beaver Falls. A subscriber was kind enough to do some research and send me a copy of a newspaper article on MARY "MAIZIE" SHUCKEOW. The subscriber said that she worked at a Beaver County historical association and would be willing to do some further research. Unfortunately, I have had some computer problems and have lost her name and email address. I would be very appreciative if she would contact me again at soconbel@usaor.net. Thank you. 3. Hi Stacy, I've done a lot of White family reserch in Beaver County, PA. Particularly descendants of Arthur White (1767-1853). Arthur was born in County Down, Ireland and came to Maryland about 1799. They then moved to Beaver County in 1813. He had three wives and twenty-three children! His farm was on the border of Independence and Raccoon Townships. Is this the White family you are looking for? Cheers, Denny Ardinger ---------- From: David L. 3. This post requesting Campbell info. led me to take a shot in the dark with a dead end for me. I only have names and sketchy info to go on and wonder if these lines could be related... I have a Joseph McMAKEN, Sr., b. Cumberland Co. PA. Married in PA to Elizabeth CAMPBELL, daughter of Andrew CAMPBELL and Jane GETTYS (the county biography book I have mentions Jane's brother William founded Gettysburg). Joseph and Elizabeth (Campbell) McMaken moved to Hamilton Co. Ohio where they had Joseph Jr. and John McMaken, my ancestor, John being born 11 May 1791. Any connections? 1. [PABEAVER-L] COLEMANS
    2. buffy
    3. My Colemans are rather sketchy in PA. Here is what I have. Jonathan Coleman b. VA [no date], however he was 83 on 1850 census Raccoon Tsp., Beaver Cty, PA. His wife's name is listed as Keziah [no maiden name] b. PA. These are the two I am really concentrating on. There son John Buchanan Coleman [my g-grandfather] b. 6-7-1825 d. 6-10-1902 married Martha Jane Snodgrass b. 1835 d. 1917 They lived in Monaca, Beaver Cty. before going to Ohio. Both died in East Liverpool, OH. John B Coleman was probably born in Beaver County, PA, but I can't confirm that. Not sure about Martha Jane, but her family lived in Trumbull Cty, OH. This couple had 5 children before he left for the Civil War and returned to 2 living. Went on to have many others. All children named and spouses are buried in East Liverpool, OH. Don't know the names of the 3 previous children. At least 5 of these children were born in PA. Aaron b 1853 d. 1925 m. Laura Merriam Samuel Curtis b. 1857 [my grandfather] d. 1931 m. Lizzie Lane Urcelia Lucretia b. 1866 d. 1934 m. Matthew Edgar Sarah Keziah b. 1869 d. 1939 m. Wm. Werdner Mary Catherine b. 1872 d.. 1947 m. George Moon Martha Jane b. 1876 d. 1970 Never Married Anyone have a connection. I'm interested also in finding where the 3 children that died during the Civil War are buried. Probably in Monaca, PA. If anyone is ever cemetery walking could you keep your eyes peeled for COLEMAN. Also, is there a way of finding who is buried in a particular cemetery in Monaca, PA.

    3. My great-great-grandmother, Deborah WHITEHILL (who married William M. RAMSEY) is buried in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery in Hookstown with their son, James Mitchell Ervin "Ervie" Ramsey, born January 19, 1861. They also had a daughter, Anna, who married a DOAK. According to her gravestone, Deborah was born June 1, 1835 and died January 7, 1901. So far this is all I know about her. I'm trying to find out who Deborah's parents were. I suspect she may have been the daughter of James and Deborah (Stephens) Whitehill. Are there any Whitehill's out there who can help?

Don't waste your time with them. >> >> They have been helpful to me but seem a little careless. I have received 2 death certs. that were illegible but when they copied one of them again, it turned out fairly well. And about the "little certificates," yes, I have received several of those with almost no information on them. The person who copies them just doesn't bother always to fill in all the information. That certainly doesn't help us get the info we need. Of course sometimes there isn't anymore info to copy. I would rather get a xerox copy of the original, rather than one that has been copied onto a form by a clerk there. If anyone knows how to get a better copy, please let us all know. You said "somewhere" in Pittsburgh. Thanks, Judie

I have even had the ladies at the Vital Records office call me when there was two or more certificates with the same or similar name. They have always been polite and very professional. Yes, it is a pain that they won't do a look up for you right in the office, but that is not their fault--blame the lawmakers in Harrisburg. And as for a list of everyone who has died in Beaver County since 1906, do you realize what you are asking for?!? The Beaver County Research Center has books of obituaries but not every year has been done. This takes countless volunteer hours, I know because I am one. Alice Kern

I included my phone number with the request. They had trouble reading my writing and took the time to call my home to make sure what I had written. I think that is a pretty good service for $3.00. -- Larry Thompson http://www.epix.net/~lt0168/index.html

The longest I waited was about 6 weeks, and the only problem I had was on one for which I didn't have the full death date (just the year). Once I was able to get the full date, I had no problems getting the death certificate. Birth certificates, on the other hand, may be a bit more difficult. I have heard that many states are making it more and more difficult to get birth certificates due to the fact that some folks are using them for the purpose of obtaining phony identification.
