    2. Dear Lynn, Yes it is possible. No births or deaths were recorded before that. There may be a will and they do have those from about 1800 when the county was established, but no births or deaths. Judee

    3. Donna et al, Allegheny County was formed in 1788 out of Washington and Westmoreland for the most part, in 1800 Beaver, Butler, Mercer, Erie, Venango, Crawford, Armstrong, and Warren were formed. Lawrence was formed in 1848. Death certificates were not required in Pennsylvania until 1906. Prior to that some counties and some other political sub-divisions required them and some were voluntary. I do not believe there were any before 1885 or 1886 in this part of the state. The best source before that time would be family bibles, church, cemetery, and newspaper records. Mac

    3. Yes this is not possible....there are a series of books re Beaver Co Cemeteries at the library that might have info in them re names date of birth and death and where they are buried so that you could contact the cemetery that they are buried in ...if they are Catholic you can request a search from the Diocese of Pittsburgh they have a web page and it gives all the details re the search and a online form for it....also the Mortality census may hold some info for you....someone else may know where else to go ...I'm in the same boat as you are..... 3. You may be in luck. Some Counties recorded vital records for a few years in the early 1850's. Go to the local FHC and order file 1318393 which has Beaver Co deaths 1852-1854. Good luck John UNICRNHORN@aol.com wrote: > > Hi, I wrote to the Register of Wills in Beaver, PA. and they said they only > carry certs from 1893 to 1906. I'm looking for a cert from 1853. 2. Hi..Sorry that I didn't get back to you. I am working from my laptop because my desk top pc is in the shop...all my addresses are on it and i have been hunting all over for your address.....glad you wrote...again.. I know that the library in Beaver Falls has some obits....but the death certs. are hard to come by that far back. I have been trying to find some too. Not easy. Beaver Co. was not formed until 1850 if I remember correctly. Could whoever you are looking for be in the parent county? Wasn't Beaver formed from Allegh. Co.? Maybe there is info earlier in Allegh. Co. Good luck...Who are you hunting for? Donna

    2. Sharon asked about the crematories in early Rochester, PA. I can't help with that but I would like to pass on some information I received from a present day Crematory. Lacock Cremation Services sent the following info to me: " Lacock Cemetery has been closed for about 35 years. The cemetery is owned by the Rochester Historical Society, which has been out of existence for 4 years. Prior to the closing of the cemetery it was operasted by a widow who died in 1968 and donated the cemetery to the historical society. To our knowledge the records of the burials do non existent, and numerous graves are unmarked, or the weather has removed the lettering on the stones, or the stones were vandalized over the years. We purchased the property next to the cemetery in 1994, and have tried to help maintain the cemetery by cutting the grass. We hope to develop a map of the recognizble stones and grave markers. However we have not accomplished much to date." I was in the cemetry last year and the man does not exaggerate, but I was able to find my ancestors grave site. Hopefully this info will be of help to someone else. Ted (tkrampf@aol.com) Researching KAUFMAN

    3. I am new to your list. I am researching CONRAD STAMM (died in 1883 in Beaver Co. - I have a copy of his will). I am trying to prove (or not) that his daughter MARY ANN is my gg grandmother. My Mary was born around 1846 in PA. Married JOHN ANDREW KOONTZ, they had 3 children SAMUEL, CORA, IRMA. John remarried, in 1881. We think Mary ann married a WILLIAM SHEELER but we really don't know what happened to her. Patty Coates

    2. Paul & Sharon
    3. I realize I am probably in lala land but I will ask this question anyways.... I can't get a death certificate for my GGrandfather nor an obituary or anything so far I 've tried....the cemetery where he is buried doe'nt have his records as they had a fire in the late 1800's and some records were lost..now here is my question What mortuarys were around in Rochester Pa . in the yr 1884...? There is bound to be a list of them and I doupt that any are still in operation but someone might have bought them out and has the records....If I knew the ones that were operating at that time and who might have their records then maby I could write them and ask them if they still have those records and if they could check and see if they have him in their files...How far in lala land am I? 2. Paul & Sharon
    3. Both these posts came in today on a list I am on and I am passing them on to this list as they may be of help to someone ..I copied and pasted both posts Sharon TX Boston Passenger Arrivals for 1820-1891 are indexed for 1848-1891 available on NARA microfilm at Family History Centers. Customs Passenger Lists for Boston dated earlier than 1 Jan 1883 were destroyed by a fire. However, the State Department Transcripts cover from 1820 to 1827 (with some gaps) and copies of original lists from 1820 to 1874 (with gaps). A Massachusetts alien act of 1848 required a bond for each passenger specifying names, ages, occupations, birthplaces, dates of arrival, and names of vessels. The "State Lists" cover 1848 to 1891. The Massachusetts State Archives (220 Morrisey Blvd., Boston MA 02125) hold these lists, not the National Archives. You can purchase a photocopy for $.50. The NARA holds indexes on microfilm. More than 2 million passengers arrived at the port of Boston. The Family History Library Catalog numbers are: Passenger lists of vessels arriving at Boston, 1820-1891 : with index 1848-1891. NARA(M265) ( M277) FHLC # 0205656 Index to passenger lists of vessels arriving at Boston, Jan. 1, 1902-Dec.31, 1920; passenger lists of vessels arriving at Boston, Aug. 1, 1891-1935 ; book indexes to Boston passenger lists, 1899-1940. NARA(T0521) NARA(T843,T617,T790) FHLC # 1724620 Ellen Naliboff I found this list by chance this morning. I don't believe it is a complete index, but since it is searchable and includes Ireland, thought it might help someone.
