I am trying to locate any information on William Josiah LEONARD born 1859 in New Castle, Pa. I cannot find him on any census. He finally shows us in the Quaker Marriage Book of Morgan Co, Ohio in 1884 married to Rachel HOLLETT. I would love to find out who his parents were so that I could begin research on them. Thank you to All who are going to answer this because I know you will help me find him!!! Donna in VA

Hi, Guess I might as well include my Beaver County, PA surnames here. These are: Aley, Anderson (or -en), and Menawey. Also for Mercer County, PA: Aley, Anderson, Edwards, and Menawey. Menawey may be a corrupted spelling - whatever is phonetically close. I have Aley on Beaver Census 1830 and Mercer Census 1840 - 1880. Edwards on Mercer Census 1850 - 1870. Menawey was a given name of the second son of John Aley and was born 1834. I am thinking he was named after his mother's father (the first born son was named after his father) - and might be an Indian. I suppose all know that Beaver and Mercer counties had pieces taken from them in 1849 to form Lawrence County. Good luck to all. Iral Nelson Richland, WA icnelson@3-cities.com

Hi: I am also researching McFarlands in the Beaver County area. Specifically, Robert L. McFarland, who moved to Beaver County from West Virginia sometime around 1900. His last child, Beatrice, was born in Beaver County in1901. One of his older sons, William R., was still in the area as of the 1930's but I have not been able to trace any of the McFarlands since that time. If this seems like it might be the same family, I would like to hear from you. Thanks. --Sandy Weston KingNLowry@aol.com wrote: > I have: LOWRY/LOWREY, SMITH, COCHORAN, HENNON, McFARLAND > > Susan Mann > > ==== PABEAVER Mailing List ==== > To contact Patti Caldwell, Listmistress, click below: > mailto:impattic@mediaone.net > remember, "Please practice random acts of kindness"........

MESENHOLL/MASONHOLD/MESENHALL, William/Peter (b. 1797/1799; d. 1872/1887), brothers and sons of Henry/Heinrich Mesenholl/Meisenholtz and Anna Margaretha Reuters who came to PA in the 1830's from Germany. William married Charlotte Grieger in February, 1842 in Beaver County, PA. Any info on either brother or their families most appreciated. Dave Masonhall <dmasonhall@coinet.com>.
Hello, all, I am new to the list and am posting the surnames I am researching and the ones that I have a lot of information on. VOLK - came to Beaver Falls from Heidelberg, Germany in 1866. August and Christina Wagner Volk and son, August. I have info on this family in Germany. Cornelius - Decendants of Abram Cornelius of Baltimore area. Isaac, his son, came to western PA in 1801 from Chester Co. after serving in the Revolutionary War. The family lived in Butler Co. and branched out to Mercer and Venango and married into families in those counties and surrounding ones. SHOWALTER - have info going back to Switzerland in the early 1700's. After coming to Philadelphia before the Rev. War, the familiy lived in the Allentown area, Shenandoah Valley, VA and migrated to western PA after the war, settling in North Sewickley Twp. ARMSTRONG - Ross Wayne Armstrong married Annie Showalter and they lived off and on in Beaver Falls. Where they were in the off years, I have yet to discover. Neither is listed in any death indeces in the Resource Center, even though RW disappears out of the directories in the mid 1930's. RW and Annie's daughter, Edna Olive, married Charlie Cornelius. Their daughter, Ruth Evelyn, was born in 1902 and married Charles Volk. Wow, the family tree in a nutshell. I have a lot of detailed info. My mystery people are RW and Annie. I may have found RW in the death index in OH. I was hoping to find his parents names and have a hunch there may have been a ROSS family in the North Sewickley Twp. area who married an Armstrong. May be way off base. I belong to the ARMSTRONG -L list and nobody has any record of RW. I have enjoyed working on this project for fun for several years and have read as many history books as ones on genealogy. I have met some remarkable people who have shared a lot of info with me and I am willing toshare with others as well. I live in Upstate NY and don't get to Beaver County very often. The people at the Research and Resource Center have been wonderful and very patient. Hope to get some mail from the list soon! Cathy
Hi folks, A cousin of mine and I are having some difficulty exchanging GEDCOM files through cyberspace. My file went to him with no problem, but when he tries to send me his, somewhere along the line it gets converted to an MIME file, which I can't open. His internet provider is worldnet.att.net. Does anyone have any advice as to what we need to do to accomplish this file transfer? Reply to me privately, please. Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide. Thank you for your offer to do look-ups in Beaver County. I noticed that you are researching the Cozart family. I am looking for a Hannora Cozat or Cozart who died between 1853 and 1858. She was married to Francis Klee and had a son, Thomas H. Louis Klee, who was born on January 28, 1853, in Pittsburg, Pa. Francis Klee is buried at the St. Joseph's Cemetery in New Brighton, Pa. I am not sure when he died, but have a date of September 11, 1874. I do not know if Hannora is buried in the same place as her husband, Francis. He then married again to a Hanora Collins. If you would please see what information you might find on these people it would be greatly appreciated. Also, if there might be a connection to the ones you are searching for. Joyce McGaughey
